61 in a 50 - points & fine?

Do you know why that might be?

I'm 24, license for 8 years and currently 2 years NCB (was named driver before). Is it down to other people with 3 points with my car in my area or something?

Probably a combination of all and every detail on your insurance quote.

It could be the car (I have found some cars (Impreza for example) show a massive hike whereas others don't), area you live in, your actual insurance company (how much of a risk are you to them - not you personally but people in your age category, area, car type, job etc).

Sometimes (and I am going on abit now) the insurance premium makes no sense at all. The best example I have is the new Seat Ibiza Cupra (curiosity more than anything here). Its yearly premium with elephant was ~£360 whereas the less powerful and cheaper FR was ~£550.

Any chance of that driver training + fine malarky? Have a clean license, but as i rep a clean license would be better. Insurance is non-issue for me as its a company car.

IIRC this is only for minor breach of the speed limit in a 30 zone (up to 35 in a 30 for example), I may be wrong however. As yours was 10mph over its unlikely you would get the option.

Just a note regarding employers and speeding tickets:

Someone I know who owns their own company employs people who drive a number of the company vans/cars.

When she recieves any speeding tickets through the post she replies that she is unaware of who was driving the vehicle at the specified time as she does not keep records and therefore can't give a name of the employee responsible.

She has never had any problem with this, none of her drivers have ever been issued with points and fines...

Just FYI :)

She will end up being taken to court and given the points then surely?

It is your duty of care to keep a record of where and when you were driving a given vehicle normally and not keeping a record is no excuse as it would be too simple to avoid points then.

yeah, with ~165 company car drivers in my company, whom own their vehicle for three years that probably wont work!

Fair enough, thanks for explaining :)
