I'm having problems posting at high FSB's. If it posts it will boot into windows. Might have to try a soft OC I'm sure this is a bios issue. For the record all my OC have been just done through the bios.

Asgard, I'm thinking of picking up the same system but for use with cooling on air.

I'm looking at the Scythe Ninja for cooling my CPU. Will I be able to hit 3ghz+ with a E6300 and keep stability? Also, what size of fan would be perfect to sit on top of the NB heatpipe? I see you're using a 120mm one - isn't that too big? Did you just glue it to it?

Being a gamer primarily, I'm still debating over whether to wait for an E6600 or plump up the cash for an E6700, but this overclocks look like they may negate the need for extra L2 cache (not to mention the amazing price difference is really tipping the scales!).

Cheers!

You have got to remember that not all chips clock the same. Overclocking is pretty much down to luck. I have been pretty lucky with this chip other people are seeing 2.8 some even lower others around 3.0 gigs If you can get a good chip then at default volts the Scythe Ninja will be fine. My first stab at 3.4 was air cooled on a £7 Akasa el cheapo.

With regard to the fan I have it blowing over the heatpipe fins. I actually have 2 1 in 1 out. I have a Lian V2000+ so it makes things easy.

I have another 6300 coming on Monday Tues along with a P5W DH. If I have time I will give them a play. I also have a 6600 and unless I can get 3.4 out of the 6600 Ill be keeping the 6300 in my machine. My advice would be a 6300 / 6600 depending on budget. It doesn't cost me anything to upgrade my gear but if it did a 6300 is what I would buy. These chips are fast at any speed.

Good luck m8

Asgard,

Am reading some problems over at Xtremesystems regarding coupling the DS4 motherboard with HZ G.Skill ram. Have you had any issues?

Not at all and the best memory I have ever owned.

It could be the chips that are being used. I bought mine from OcUK a couple of weeks ago and they were the June batch. May/June apparantly use micron chips. Maybe there are issues with different chips?

Nice going Vas :)

Just recieved another oem 6300 and my P5W DH. Will see how the Asus performs with my original 6300 and see how this new chip compares

Just a quick question for the asgard as i basically have an identicle system to you is how you are testing whether your system is stable. Just wondering, you running prime 95 on it's own or two of them running, or have you got an other program to stress both cpu's????? Just wondering as i've seen devious use certain progs and just wonder what your using.

Cheers and good luck with some more overclocking.

Hi m8,
For stability checking I run 2 instances of prime. Pretty much all I use.

Cheers :)

dude , how does it looks to you , the performance of the 6300 i mean at this freq.

I come from a 640@4500 and this little chap here has blown my socks off with its performance

amazing

The performance is amazing and what impresses me the most is the price I have never seen a processor perform so well for such little money.

Can you snapshot your memory settings please but upgrade to the latest cpuid first. Loop 13 is at 8, 57 it looks like the 965 is doing better than the 975

having to redo it didnt have the result output big enough for the last value so couldnt see it.

Can you not get the memory to run 1:1? I'm running 1:1. my test is running a few seconds faster. Didnt think the memory speed made that much difference though, obviously it does. Either that or the 965 chipset is faster. Would be nice if you could do 1:1

it is 1:1 , its just the CPUZ that doesnt read the memory freq correctly, its a bug with the bad axe only :D

Well its looking like the 965 is faster than the 975 although my timings are better but I wouldnt have thought there would be that much diff
