I took delivery of a 55” C9 this morning and am so impressed with it. Only criticism I can have of it is the bump for the electronics is done in such a way I’m thinking about how I stick some bias lighting leds on.

Enjoying my 65GZ, It’s own YouTube, Netflix and iPlayer apps looks stunning. Finally found a motion setting I am happy with and about as good as it will get after being spoilt with the plasma.

just waiting on next years Yamaha amp as my Z7 is slowly dying

LG c9 arrived..stupidly thin bezel one man.xant lift it, but with pioneer it's meaty enough to get grip around fascia for one man lift

I have mine on a cantilever wall bracket, these OLEDs feel so flimsy compared to my old Samsung Q9.

Not the easiest things to wall mount?

The 55 panny has dropped to 1299, wondering if that's the lowest it will go, or will it drop again next Friday?! I hate waiting

Set it up. Shows just how good my pioneer plasma was and is, the oled pretty much looks the same, better blacks just bigger. Maybe bit more colour to it. Only using 1080p Blu-ray for now.

Got to figure out cabling, got a 4k bd player, 1080p dvd, android box 4k. Amp is optical only so maybe place all components near TV, use hdmi cable, then use optical out from TV to amp. Problem is stand blocks optical out may have a way round that, it came two brackets so replace lower bracket with shorter one that should unblock port

First off need two 4k cables , 7m optical.

Yip 2008 Kuro vs 10 year newer tech = no that big a jump ignoring the RES (RES is not everything), pity the Kuro 10 series series was was canned it would have been sweet.

I have a Kuro LX5090 (9 series built March 2009) its the the newer purple tinged screen one not green tinged screen) and it is mint still.

Came from a Panasonic GT50 here, like you say it’s not a huge jump, especially when it comes to motion. Infact I think the plasma’s motion was better and you had more headroom with playing with the motion options before introducing SOE.
The main difference comes from decent Dolby Vision material for me

There's a peak brightness setting I've set it to low.

Watched 300 and it's very dark is is it disc at fault as others are ok
