6950 BSODing

a few days later and all i can say is

**** YOU ati/AMD YOU TERRIBLE COMPANY RELEASE SOME REAL DRIVERS FFS

today just opening msi afterburner gave me a bsod after 2 days of none, this time was something about an exception, then rebooting into windows i got another bsod, also a few amd driver not workings.

the system itself seems fine, these always happen when i open something to do with the cards (ccc, afterburner, gpu-z it happened too), because the drivers are so retarded they dont know how to handle it.

Oh yeah because it BSODs whilst steam was downloading files, its borked my steam, it wont open now and needs a reinstall, i had only just finished downloading shogun 2 and gta (about 35gb combined), i am never ever buying an ati card again. Always had nvidia in the past and never any problems. Wasted my money on this system.

sorry for raging but this just isnt fair. Was a complete one off for me to come into this sort of money for this system and now its wasted, im thinking about burning the cards in my garden then taking a huge crap on them.

edit: OH LOOK, UNINSTALL DRIVERS, DRIVER SWEEPER, TRY AND INSTALL NEW ONES, WONT WORK **** YOU AMD.

Once i have calmed down tommorow i will reinstall windows, but have contacted ocuk about returning them, will hopefully get a nvidia card.

installed 2 6950s in crossfire today, but i cant run any 3d apps, been trying to run the heaven benchmark but i get the BSOD with the message (after it loads i hear sound for a few seconds then heaven crashes then the system bsods)

Attempt to Reset Display Driver and Recover from Timeout Failed BSOD

I ran into BSOD problems with CrossFire in F1 2010. Googling found out it doesn't like DX11 in Crossfire so I had to force it to DX9 via their hardware config files to run stable.

Multi-monitor setup?

Ive tried using driver sweeper in safe mode but nothing is helping,

I've read too may scary stories regarding that.

also i noticed that i was only using one crossfire link so quickly put the other in, any other suggestions?

You only need one. 2 is for tri-fire. Is it connected to the slot nearest the PCI screws?

Its definantly just 2 6 pin connectors per card for power? They have little 2 pin ones coming off the 6pin one too but that doesnt seem to go anywhere.

The extra 2 will just be for future proof so you can run cards with 6 pin and 8 pin connections.

This was prebuilt from ocuk and was kind of hoping to avoid this problems by going prebuilt instead of builind my own :( Do they not test the systems before sending out?

CrossFire can be quite a temperamental thing and a lot of testing/troubleshooting. They can't test all games or benchmarks. I've had my fair share of it with the x1900 series.

If i click identify gpu it comes up with 1.

That's normal. As it's acting as one. That's what I get on my CrossFired 5870's.

If you get a game working, I testing to make sure that CrossFire was working with the: "Show CrossFireX Status Icon (where applicable)" It shows up the top right of the screen.

Did they install the CrossFire CAP4 profiles?
