6950 Overheating.

Images don't work.

If you're having graphical problems they would seen to be of far more importance than the slightly higher temperatures (which shouldn't be high enough to be causing any problems).

If I were you I'd have a really good look for dust on all your case fans, clean all yor dust filters, and if all else fails, replace the thermal paste or RMA the card.

Turn off the computer if you want silence, Computers aren't supposed to be hot.

I run all my fans at 100% except the GPU, which only runs at 100% when gaming.

The only time I'd have my fans running any less is when I leave the thing on over night, when it's just downloading the 7-10GB of steam games lol

Good for you. some of us prefer our computers to be powerful and as silent as possible.

looks more like a game glitch to me

From what appears on those images it doesn't really look like a graphics card fault.

I would expect a fault with the graphics card to produce errors over the whole image rather than being isolated to some particular texture that's being displayed.

Catalyst doesn't set the fan speed high enough really. I used to get temperature in the mid 90s on the auto fan speed. 40% fan speed for me keeps the temperature around 75°. Can set that in Catalyst Overdrive or you can use MSI Afterburner. I use MSI Afterburner, overclocked to 900Mhz now too.

Edit: I just read the bit about you running 100% fan and still getting 70°... maybe what I said was no help :)

MSI Fan profile I use:

Is your 6950 one with heatpipes? Although your temps are not that bad (considering ambient temps have remained the same) the GPU cooler might need some maintenance. If for some reason a heatpipe has failed there is not much you can do.

40% @ 100% will reach 70 and it wont keep it at that temp it'll keep riseing, at least not in my case although i do have one of the early 6950's.

Fan does get loud when I load a game yes, but its pretty quiet the rest of the time. This keeps my temps at 70. Card hasnt ever liked overclocking that much, running at 880atm. I've had it at 950 passing benchmarks but bf3 doesnt like it. Then i enable eyefinity and oc's have to be dropped lower.
