7 seater 4x4 with decent mpg?

So far I know about the mitsubishi outlander and suzuki grand vitara, but is there anything else with seven seats that can do 40+ mpg? Also any suggestions for MPVs that handle well in snow? Cheers.

Budget?

As for good in snow, anything with 4wd and decent winter tyres is excellent in snow.

Not sure if you can coax a Volvo to 40mpg but perhaps an XC90 is worth a look?

In Iceland I found the Nissan Qashqi to be far superior to the Suzuki Grand Vitara. - We had both as rental cars, and the Nissan never drove into anything it couldn't get out of; the Suzuki had to be rescued by a Landcruiser at on point... and I broke the traction control driving in Reykjavik.

I can safely say that while the 7 seats in my x5 are excellent, the MPG i get is well below claimed and nowhere near your goal in real life.

Mine is under warranty but has been fine. All relative I guess. Somewhat more to insure than previous 5 series.

I get about 26 mpg on average.

What about a Nissan Pathfinder or an Discovery, considering most of the other options are not available in the UK market.
But I dont think 40mpg is realistic for such a car. Nissan reckons the derv Pathfinder will do about 38 on a run though and the Disco4, 35..
It would have to be the disco for me.

I don't think there's much chance of that. A colleague has (2.4 diesel, 12 plate) and struggles to get above 30.

Landrover Discovery 2. You'll get a good one for that budget if you shop around. Ok so it won't do 40mpg, it's probably not as reliable as the others, but it also won't leave you stuck on the side of the road with all the new pretend 4x4s in the snow.

Shogun with a petrol engine and LPG.

OK, it'll still only do ~20mpg, but with LPG at half the price of petrol, it's close to your 40mpg wish.

nissan qashqai+2 is the only 7 seater i can think of which has any hope whatsoever of acheiving 40mpg on average.

(qashqai+2 1.5dci 2WD - 56mpg combined)

Nissan Pathfinder will do 30mpg average. I had one for a couple of years.
