737-800 down in China

People need to rein in their theories about pilot sucide, they are not helpful.
then close the thread and end all speculation.
I thought this was a discussion forum where people discuss stuff.

may aswell just instantly close any thread as soon as they are created and not allow comments

I am a pilot and the Chinese have been subjecting pilots to some really nuts restrictions during covid. Looks like it was mechanical or some kind of suicide. Terrible.

I've been watching a lot of plane crash review videos prior to all of this and I've learnt that there is soo much that can go wrong in a plane that automatically assuming it is pilot sucide based on a video alone is nothing more than pointless fear mongering.

whenever they go straight down or fly into a mountain it's tended to be on purpose.
even if it's not pilot suicide it's probably pilot error like it usually is in those programmes you've been watching.

planes don't just fall from the sky.

you want people to not talk about it? like all the people that get reported as falling from balconies.

Not sure. Also I see the image posted earlier shows it at 30,000ft, I had seen in another article it was at FL30. I will assume the image posted earlier is correct and therefore this is not likely to be MCAS. More than enough room to recover from a stall or to override any anti stall mechanism. I go back to this being the pilot.

Not a MAX, no MCAS.

I've flown out of Kunming with China Eastern, brings it a bit closer to home! That said, flights get as much press as sharks; no fatalities in the prior 12 years and how many flights in that time etc.

Thoughts with all the passengers and their families whatever the cause.

Here we go chaps - "there is always two sides to a story" bot has shown up :D

I can see your reasoning but do you have stats for that.

even if it's not pilot suicide it's probably pilot error like it usually is in those programmes you've been watching.
I never said or commented about pilot error. I mentioned pilot sucide.

Nice strawman to finish off your post

There is. One side is the OCUK forums the other side is the flight data recorder:D

Looking at previous flight playbacks, the point where it has gone straight down, is not too dissimilar to the point at which that flight normally starts its routine descent for landing - to me it would seem most likely they've attempted to commence a normal descent and something has gone wildly wrong - whether that's mechanical or pilot, we'll hopefully discover in time.

Oh my goodness, that's truly awful. RIP.

@Feek *FL300, although it could be FL290 being just below the 30000 feet line.

@robfosters think you mean feet per minute there chap. Per second would be an even quicker descent than the one in this incident.

Do yourself a favour then - to quell your rage - just opt out of discussion forums and just browse history books where enough time has passed for there to "only be the facts".
Responds to me with a joke, gets upset because i responded back with a joke.
Any rage you got from my post is in your head.
