I tried the 10 hour Nyan cat video when it first went up on Youtube. I don't think people realise how effective sound torture is. There's a reason the Yanks used it from Waco Texas to Iraq, Afghanistan and against their own citizens during protests and developed the LRAD. I couldn't complete 10 hours of Nyan cat. I couldn't complete 4. I couldn't imagine spending three days listening to it not being allowed to speak. It would end up with me probably going full "I have no mouth, and I must scream".

Doesn't volume play a large part in it tho? Listening to NYAN cat for a few hours doesn't sound so bad, so long as it's not loud. I think I could cope with that

But I hate loud noise, so the second you turned the volume up I'd crack

e: Also sleep deprivation on its own is pretty powerful, and the "sound torture" as you call it is designed to prevent sleep. I'm sat here listening to NYAN cat (10 mins now), and on its own it's really not a problem. I've got the volume pretty low (at a level I could listen without damage for an extended time), and it's really no big deal.

The main way this counts as torture is sleep deprivation and loud volume. Without those elements it's not really "torture" at all.
