770 or 7970?

Cheers, I'd seen stuff about flashing it with the Matrix bios recently -- after I realised that the dual bios switch on the card actually protects against bricking it I was going to do it. But now I'm not as I'm selling it (no gaming for me for a few months, so I'm going to make do with Intel HD). I can't understand why Asus hasn't just released an unlocked bios, mind you.

Ah well, never mind

I think so. One card shouldn't draw more than about 300W flat out itself, and I can't see games generally wanting both at full load (assuming you're not on more than one display etc).

Just had a thought, should i wish to crossfire will a 750w psu be enough? should be right? Seasonic gold of course lol

Yeah, I'm running 2x 7950s with big overclocks on an 860w PSU, with an overclocked 3930K, 5 disk drives, 11 fans and a watercooling pump and I don't get close to its capacity.

Gah.

I've got my Asus 7970 up for sale as I don't need it for now and this thread is really making me want to buy two of these HIS 7970s.

Spoffle, bf4 thats an amd title right? so im guessing it'll perform better on the 7970? one last thing i <3 borderlands i mean i really love it! physx is'nt a problem going ati is it? i can just use my cpu to run physx?

Glad you made your decision finally:)

As far as i am aware PhysX only runs on nvidia cards unless there are some new AMD PhysX drivers ?

Certain aspects of PhysX run on the CPU only, ARMA 3 for example is purely CPU PhysX. Borderlands 2 however mainly uses the GPU, so going AMD would affect your PhysX goodies in that title.

No more than his current experience of it though as he has an AMD card currently.

Most of the PhysX will still run on the CPU though, it's certain things are accelerated by a GPU.

I just sold my 7970 a few minutes ago (to someone who's already got an identical card to mine and wants to do crossfire).

2x7970s might be a bit silly for me on my 1920x1200 monitor...

Maybe 2x7950s?

(I don't even NEED a card at the moment, let alone two!)

looks like amd ftw for most here lol i did turn physx on with my current setup it looked awsome but i didnt get more than 12fps :O lol

I have 2 of the HIS 7970's and they will clock at 1200/1700 and beyond with no difficulty and perform well in benchmarking, however still looking forward to the new ATI drivers to see what they bring.
