7700k Tested at Tom's Hardware

It's Skylake-X and it'll be at least Q3 2017.
Exactly, and by then mainstream 6 core chips won't be far behind anyway.
Waiting nearly a year seems a bit pointless when these platforms are easily lasting 4-5 years anyway.
This. Pretty much. Nothing stopping one from selling and upgrading later either if there's even much point.

amd wont match intel thats a certainty . regardless if you love or hate them.

more cores is the only real step at the moment.speed barrier we close to the limit of retail.until some big jump happens.which wont be anytime soon.

even if zen matches older 6 core chips when released you could have had that for years already.always one step behind.

I feel like multiple CPU is probably where its at but those motherboards arent cheap and probably wont ever be. Most home user code doesnt support that split power house idea enough yet anyway
CPU research is directed to servers and mobile devices, increasingly small. Future advances will be hive like with rapid inter communication and shared load not singular super computer doing all tasks I guess.
I mean they been saying this since the 90's but maybe we are seeing the effects of it now without any great benefit yet discernible, from the oc perspective at least
