so here is the story so far:

i purchased a msi twin frozr 7950 and when it arrived did a full reinstall including drivers obviously!lol

i then decided to play the free game sleeping dogs and i noticed i had faint scrolling lines over the screen so
i have tried it on sleeping dogs,gw2,dead island, stalker: clear sky, blacklight retribution and then i removed the card and tried it with my 6850 with no issues put the 7950 in again tried the games again with the same issue.

it doesnt do it on skyrim or bastion

i have posted in the customer services section so hopefully should get some feedback from there.

im gutted got a card with a great vidic and low volts which ran cool now im gonna be without a card back to my 6850 then......

yeah its not like join lines its just suttle lines going across the screen generally in the middle portion of the screen that move about the same colour if not a little faded than the colour at the time sometimes there very visible others more sutle and its always there. i didnt realise how much it was spoiling the games untill i plugged in my 6850.
what is it when u get these suttle scrolling lines anyway?

i have ccc installed and msi afterburner and ive kept afterburner closed, all tests have been done on stock clocks it does it when oc'd too but i havent played with it much ocd as i didnt need to was just finding the clocks for future use.

so after all that i rma'd the card and got the new one today plugged it in and same problem again this time i have tried 12.8 and 12.9 beta drivers with the same issues i thought i would see if doing a small oc would remove this problem but no it just made it worse there where more lines and they moved faster (scrolling) around the screen.

is this another card problem or?

any help would be much appreciated

Sounds like some kind of interference to me. Try and make sure your monitor is plugged into a separate plug to anything else. Also try and get some shielded cables for your other AV stuff as well if you haven't already.

surely this would happen on my 6850 if this where the problem though?
as the 6850 works absouletly fine with non of these issues

Not necessarily. Some components are more sensitive to interference than others. Its worth testing elsewhere. Perhaps move your PC into the garage or somewhere else to try and rule out interference.

yep v sync is on and have had the frame limiter on too and its still there its not as bad on this card as the last but its still there.

is there anything else i can try i heard someone had this kind of issue with a 7850 and used tripple buffering and it removed it! not sure how i could do this thinkhe used a outside program.

so much trouble for so much money lol

If its fine in other games i bet its a driver bug because to me what you are describing sound like screen tear btw it really is best to uninstall the drivers then reboot then use driver sweeper clean out old reg stuff reboot then install cats this swapping of cards cant help matters

http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweeper.html

so try express uninstall everything then reboot
run driver sweeper clean it all out then reboot
install cats enable vsync etc then reboot try again but I wouldn't write off it maybe being a game problem whereby for whatever reason vsync isn't working

well had some strange results today decided to bring the computer down stairs and link it to the tv (same res as monitor) i tried it through hdmi and the standard cable (dvi adapter to vga cable)

i had none of these lines on the tv with same settings regarding graphic settings and 1920x1080p settings on the tv and the monitor i normally use!

i got to a area (wall) which showed off the lines well and swapped the cable from tv to monitor to see if they where still there on the tv which they where not back into the monitor and the lines apear again! so tv no lines monitor lines so is it looking like my monitor is on the way out or is it a compatability issue?

i have completely removed the drivers on about 5 occasions now and reinstalled including trying 12.8 and 12.9 with no difference (back to 12.8 now)
i can't stand these lines and have to get this sorted

any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like a monitor issue then. Try your monitor on someone else's computer if you can. Also try some different cables if possible.

unfortunately i cant try my monitor anywhere else as im the only pc gamer lol
its fine on the desktop(aslong as no games are running then i get the lines)
and doesnt do it in every game but pretty much all.

will see if i have a cable lying about but surely i would have seen the issue if it was the cable using it with the tv?

Well I would have thought you would have used a dvi->HDMI cable for your TV. Hopefully you are not using a HDMI connection on your monitor. Its best to try different cables just as a process of elimination.

i tried the hdmi cable to tv to see if that eliminated the lines and it did so then i did a fair comaparisson using the same cable that i use on the monitor (monitor supports dvi +vga) which was a vga cable with the dvi adapter into the graphics card this was the same as the hdmi lead (bar sound) there where no lines as soon as the monitor was plugged into the pc via the same cable the lines where back i did this vice versa a few times and only the lines where visible on the monitor but not on the tv.

as a quick question whats the difference in dvi's? as i have seen dvi-d and dvi-i are they compatable or?
also why shouldnt u use a hdmi lead on a monitor? ( i cant just intrested)

Some people say dvi gives better quality to monitors. If possible, try and use the dvi output of your card and the dvi input on your monitor.

no difference in hdmi and dvi apart from no sound signal on dvi, picture quality is exactly the same, test with different cables if you can

Get a dvi->dvi cable and these problems will go away I'm sure. You want a pure digital signal which is far less affected by interference. Where do you live? Perhaps someone on the forum is nearby with a spare cable?

thanks for all the help guys problem solved!! hoooorah

went to my local pc place and got a dvi-d cable plugged it in and now everything is running peachy wahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

thanks again everyone
