Hmm, so maybe this bad batch is actually just a select set of people with high res monitors and windows 8 running the 12.10 or later drivers? Beta 7 didn't fix **** for me btw.

Nope. Mine were definitely too hot. CF/single GPU and multimonitor/single.

Obviously I can only speak definitely about myself.

It's still a bit warm even with those idle clocks of 300/150. 38C at 33% fans is above the norm, but it's at a point where I could live with it. It does bug me a bit that my overclock is quite limited though. Is it worth sending it off to OcUK though?

Ran heaven at 1100/1350 and it got to 77C at 66% fans. How does that stack up?

My current temp of GPU is 33C the room is quite warm and the air flow is bad + the dampening case doesnt take heat away that well as a normal aluminium or metal case does ;)
All fans are on the lowest 600-800rpms ;]

What voltage?

My IceQ is 61-63c.

Im more than happy with mine!
Are you using those OC setting in signture for every day use?

Yeah. My MSI went faster on the same voltage but was faulty so a moot point.

1096mV

I was just pulling your leg IC3, if it turns out my card is definitely hotter than it should be, I'll RMA it, but I don't want to send it off, pay postage and testing fee for a "no fault found" card.

OK just ran Heaven 3.0 twice in a row and my 7950 setting were all default:

880Mhz
1250Mhz
1031 voltage

Fan on auto

Highest part of the Heaven benchmark temps and fan speeds:

46% fan speed 64c

Heaven Score also was:

FPS:
63.4
Scores:
1597
Min FPS:
24.9
Max FPS:
136.7

Does this look alright to you guys? Temp-wise and Heaven score wise? It's was the 1080p settings as per the Heaven Thread. It places it just on top of a couple of 580s (obviously I haven't overclocked the GPU at all). In an extremely clean and tidy Antec 902.

Appreciate any thoughts.....

Rusty?

Looks a little warm for stock speeds. I would bump the voltage a tiny bit and go for 1050/1100. Anything over 75c ain't right unless you're getting to the point where you're really pushing the card.

Just pushed it :D

It got to 76c on straight 60% fan speed constant

Got a score of 1925 on Heaven

1100Mhz Core
1.15v
1450 memory

What you think?

I'm happy with the noise levels, scores seem OK but I would have expected better with the cooler perhaps?

Was 1.15v too much?

Can probably drop the voltage to at least 1137mV perhaps. Best to experiment and see how you get on. If you put the memory voltage up just a little bit you can easily get another 300 MHz out of that. That will help your Heaven score.

I've got 1.15V going through mine for 1125 MHz and it runs at 61-63c so yours is still a touch hot. The HAF X has insane air cooling but even so I still feel yours is a little warm but if you're happy with the noise levels when it's running then I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah dropped the voltage to 1.1v same settings as before 60% fan 1100Mhz core 1450 mem and it dropped to 69c.

Voltage increase didn't make much difference on my 6970 reference at all tbh maybe because it is a blower? Dunno, anyway.

I'll stick to the gaming, the heaven score isn't the important thing but it's just good to get an idea of where my card performs.

I had an amazing chip in my 6970 (stable to 1040c/1425m) with ref cooler so can't always win in silicon valley.

So far I dont think it's hot enough to warrant a return.

Thanks Rusty :)

And yeah the HAF-X is much better cooling than my 902 so that will probably be a fair few degrees difference right there.

Yours is about 5c cooler than my best MSI card and 30c cooler than my worst one!

For me the noise was too much and it was only noisy because there was something wrong with the cooling solution.

I'm happy now with my IceQ. It's insanely quiet in comparison and although it doesn't overclock as well I'd rather buy another when performance is lacking than live with the noise from the MSI! Ha ha.

No worries :)

It's only the noise that bugs me as well. 65% is a bit noisy for gaming, but that's what I need to keep in in the low 70s at 1100/1350 1.1V

If you are confident enough I would suggest replacing the thermal paste and reseating the cooler. Gave me a good 6 degree drop and a corresponding drop in fan speed on mine. Ive replaced the original cooler now though so cant give you my results.

I have updated mine to the latest drivers and it has sorted my idle temps out nicely.

Now at 38c instead of 50-55c.

Still hits 75c when playing Sleeping Dogs but I think the fan is not going as fast to keep it there.

Still noisy though !

Sleeping dogs can get a little warm.
Here's what I got at 1150/1400 with the old Sapphire twin fan cooler vs new aftermarket solution. Not a show off thing, just a rough reference for what you should expect :)
I'd guess that a correctly performing TFIII should perform a little better than this.

VRM1 temps are about 4°C lower than this since swapping thermal tape for thermal glue fwiw.
