7970 Drivers plus OCing

i should be able to OC AUTOMATICALLY VIA ASROCK, it's what i paid for, i have none of this ...no AXTU and i have no cpu OC EITHER, where is this stuff, i'm loosing it, i want answers now..

asrock is only on mine in BIOS i cant see it in program files, i can not go into bios any more because win 7 is loosing the files...... i am so annoyed with this

Motherboard BIOS - CPU and RAM overclocking/voltage adjustment
MSI Afterburner - GPU/VRAM overclocking and voltage adjustment

There is real potential to irrevocably damage your equipment if you're fiddling with settings without understanding what you're doing. Put everything back to default and do some research. You're not above this kind of grinding - everyone who wants to mess with PC's has to do it at some point.

Also the nature of PC components means that one set of settings for someone could cause blue screens for you so you can't expect somebody to do it for you.

yea i know thanks, but it was so simple via Asrock because it does it automatically, plus i dont have the SAPPHIRE OC DUAL X software either.... my desktop is blank, i've downloaded MSI kOMBUSTOR, but it means nothing to me, it's not for beginners

i dont think the guy in the shop uploaded the mobo/ graphic card discs, because it sais you get the desktop menu items when done.... i have none..... my external DVD Drive from old rig didn't work, the power was there but mobo didn't recognise the Ribbon cable, so i had to send it into shop, there is no mention of Sapphire in search engine, he did not uplad the discs.... only Win 7

Seriously, take a break from it all. Sounds like you are trying to do everything at once, while not knowing how to do any of it correctly, and you are likely just making problems for yourself.

As Rusty suggested, put everything back to stock.

Yes, you may have paid for overclockable stuff, and you will get there EVENTUALLY, but before you break it all, and make yourself even more upset, just make sure it's all running fine AT STOCK, and the PICK ONLY ONE THING to try and OC first, be it CPU or GPU.

Aim low to start so you can learn about the interactions between voltages and frequency etc, when move up.

this isn't the time for silly varnish jokes no way, ok it's starting to make sense now.

but i aint going to OC too far, because i dont know enough yet... i'm now going to stress the system, lets see how it goes

ok

its on 1200 core......mem 1770......volts 1.25

temp 33 to 38 degrees on a fan speed 60%..... i'm shaking like a leaf, so nervous right now :D

auto fan looks too low on 20%

is this ok guys

those seem like idle temps to me.

Seriously, why not start with a much milder OC?

Leave voltages well alone and aim for 1050 core first, and 1500 memory.

Then see what your temps are like UNDER LOAD, running something like heaven.

Auto fan will ramp up when you start using a 3d application such as a game etc.

Do you have GPU-Z to monitor temps? If not click here

*In all honesty though, after reading the thread and questioning whether you're trolling or serious, I would suggest that you do a LOT of research into things, and only when you're comfortable overclocking/tweaking, without practically begging for help on here and getting in a tizzy, then to venture into overclocking*

Bet you wish you spent all that time 'researching' (read: Google'ing) the 690, 7990, 685 and 780 learning about overclocking instead don't you Mal? :p

ok under stress it was at 100% LOAD = 68 degrees on MSI KOMBUSTOR.... 60fps,, lets have a look at the fan speed..... because the fans can be speeded up, they're very quiet...... coil whine ? yes but no idea why many complain, this is miles less than CPU fan noise ....ha ha

but i cant OC the MOBO yet till i talk to Greg

Ok Mal.

To give you an idea of what my card does comfortably without a single crash, I run it at 1125/1600 24/7 and I have the same card as you. I have also had it at 1160/1600. It might do more on stock volts, I have never tested it beyond that. So I would say to be safe try 1050/1550 first and then notch it up slowly and see how high you get before a crash. Or like me, just notch it up to a moderate level and don't risk a crash and be happy with the gains.
