7970 Drivers plus OCing

All you need is AMD drivers + Afterburner/Trixx. That's it. Nothing from Sapphire or Asrock should be needed.

Think am going to leave this one well alone for now. Too tired.

Wrong section for this but this is so simple to do. I don't care that it adds more volts than is needed (which it does). This is the simplest way to OC on your board. Start with 4 and see how that works for a couple of hours and then go 4.2 and repeat untill unstable and then drop back.

Oh and as for your GPU, listen to the guys that have a 7XXX card. They no what they are doing and don't run before you can walk.

Mal give up mate, save yourself the myocardial infarction and do some research before putting it into practice. There's nothing more dangerous to your system than trying to overclock this and that without knowing what you're doing. Just trying to save you from the disappointment of a dead component.

Reading this thread sounds like you're pretty confused over the whole thing.

To overclock the CPU, use the BIOS. The BIOS is a totally seperate thing from Windows, so you'll never find it in program files. To enter BIOS it's usally the Delete button on the keyboard, which you need to press during POST (Before it actually goes into Windows, and where the Asrock splashscreen should appear). Follow gregster's steps in post #50. Always do a manual overclock, they are for more stable than any auto overclocking. Use Prime95/Intel Burn test to stress test.

To overclock the GPU, use MSI AfterBurner. I found this very easy to use and the best software to overclock, and make sure "Apply overclock on startup" is ticked. Use Furmark to stress this, but only for 15 mins as it's a stressful little bugger. Another good one to use is Heaven.

Also, you're using the wrong word for install ;) . Upload means transferring something from the PC to the net :p.

ok i got in and tried to OC, i then saved and exited... it didn't work, the pc shut down and it turned off the monitor too... it's done this 4 times now, when returning to asrock it's on normal settings... no OC at all

it didn't work on turbo 50 either, there must be something i'm missing here, this is far too complicated for me, i'm not getting enough help

it's something simple i'm missing

card is ok now, the OC is holding

i think it's really bad that nobody is helping, even though you can, i'm so upset about this, i hope the moderators see this thread, ok it's in the wrong place but you could still have helped me

Mal, we've tried mate, but from this thread it's become clear that you don't fully understand the basic principles of overclocking GPU's and CPU's, it's not us trying to make you look stupid. Plenty of advice has been given, and you've chosen to ignore some of it.

The best advice i'd give you right now is to take a step back from it before you do some damage to your new system, do some reading, create threads but only start to dabble when you feel confident and have at least a basic grasp of what you're doing, i.e cause and effect.

you havent been helping, you gave up quickly and started trolling me, i've been struggling all afternoon, i've complained to the mods about this

I'll try and help if I can mal, you sound genuine enough to me. What exactly are you trying to do? Are you comfortable navigating your bios and changing settings on the bios?
