I asked msi if i tested it in another pc and the problem did not arrise then what?
This was my reply

It would have to be the cpu then although I think you will duplicate this with the vga in the other computer. Since it is a carry over problem and the only carried over parts are the vga and cpu next would be the cpu.

Sounds about right, a faulty cpu can have some weird effects on a system, it could even screw about with your gpu as the pci lanes run from the cpu base.

What cpu is it? And is it overclocked?

2500k, running at stock currently until i get problem sorted, just trying to take things out of the equation. Thought problem was down to using sandy on a ivy platform but problem was there before on z68.

Get the card in another machine and give it some heaven loops and see how that go's, fortunately you are on 1155, which means if needs be you could grab a new cheap retail Pentium Gxxx chip to rule out the CPU if possible.

Its not really continuous running thats the problem its start up from cold, have had the odd random crash. So when i try it in my lads machine i should know the moment i press the power button, or will i??? His pc is running my old p67+e8500, will try my card in his then his card in mine that should then make things clearer, i hope :(

Just need to get this sorted asap, been waiting ages for armoured kill and now i cant play :(

Keep boot looping from cold then and see if you can get it to give you the same error, failing that grabbing one of the cheap 1155 pentiums should rule the cpu in/out.

Appreciate ocuk's speedy process with this but i am not happy with the outcome, going to contact msi, and ask why i have a problem with there card in there board. Have been using my pc for last week with no problems and i can guarantee when the card goes back in, code ******* 62.

Fully star out all swearing in future. Thank you.

Did you buy the CPU and motherboard from OcUK as well?

It may be worth talking to 5UB or someone and asking if you could send the lot back for testing.

Should really get round to moving mine on. It's not seen daylight since getting a 690. A shame really as it's a nice looking bit of kit and only seen about an hour of use.

try disable full screen logo and set option rom messages to keep current).
the problem lies within bios

How much do you a think a second hand lightning would be going for? They ain't been out that long though so...

Contemplating getting a second one now that I'm gaming at 1440 but it still feels like a massive overkill however there is always the potential to multi screen 1440s

Based on current price for a new one, used you should be looking around the £300 mark, maybe a shade more if the owner can prove what clocks/volts the card operates at.

The retail price on these cards has dropped over £70 in the last few months.

I think you would be hard pushed to get one for that! even used.

Depends what someones willing to pay for one used tbh, with the retail price at £380 any more than £300 on a used one you may as well cough up the extra and buy brand new direct.

I'm generally quite hesitant about buying expensive components 2nd hand, very nearly got burned with a faulty CPU earlier this year, fortunately the seller was a nice chap who gave me a refund :)
