7970 Lightning, worth the premium?

So overclocked the lightning to 1150 core 1500 memory at just over the stock volts. Which is 1.175 on mine. Ran a run of heaven and at the end it started artifacting and they looked like cheqeured flags almost, whats this then do i need a bump in voltage on the core?

Or is it the memory, what does that kind of artifacting usually mean. Had to reboot aswell as was doing the same artifacting on the desktop after finishing heaven. All ok after reboot though.

Sounds like your memory needs a little bump in volts to me.Try setting your Memory Voltage at 1625 (mV) and try again.

I dunno, compares nicely with Why Scotty's taking into consideration the difference in clock speeds.

My run with a lower Core clock http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/4729346

Allthough I think my memory clock is a little higher than yours without digging out your link. From what I found with both my Lightning and 690 upping the memory clock didnt improve the score much compared to a higher core clock.

I've found memory overclocking does make quite a big difference. Otherwise, there must be something wrong with my drivers.

1800 on the memory is ample, you may experience correction above 1800mhz, my limit was around 1950, hope the new card fairs as well :)
