7970 prices

OCUK never update at midnight. Same with the Christmas countdown they did. Surely there's automation for this type of thing!

Gibbo's already said they'll be for sale from about 8am so I expect the 7970 section won't be updated until then

If I was to order it will be from here so will wait. Hopefully OC will follow and have them up now...

OCUK will wait for all other stores to put it up for sale first. If you remember when the 6990 was released, OCUK's price was not competitive at all and had to reduce it significantly (£70?) to compete with a few other companies. OCUK were the first to put theirs up for sale.

Then, as other companies ran out of stock, prices increased!

Consumer products are ruthless ;)

(FOB) price including loading etc, (buyer pays shipping seperate from retailer) costs $475 (AMD's price) = £305 in UK add '20% VAT' = £62 - Total = £367.

That's a £72.99 for the retailer? on each card, and VTX is the cheapest?

Compared to the Nvidia GTX 3GB it's still a great price, but a big mark up on the RRP :/

Hopefully prices will drop a bit at some point..

You missed out some steps there:

Key points here!

$475 is FOB board partner cost price.

So you have:-
$475 then add following:-
Board partner profit margin
Shipping Cost
Exchange rate conversion
Distributor profit margin
Shipping from distributor
Etailor/Reseller profit margin
VAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally massive shortage on stock, demand higher than supply, price = higher!
I did add VAT, I also thought board partnter cost was dealt with by AMD and the $475 represented there final price including shipping to resellers, far enough though that's good to know. :-D

£479.99 is the cheapest 580 3gb OcUK have in stock. So looking at this price... it's not really that bad. However it's still over the £400 mark :(.

So around ish the same price as the 3GB 580. The price is not bad tbh if you look at the performance. Need to see what OC prices come in at when they are live.

Yeah very true, at the end of day Nvidia have been charging up to and beyond £500 for the GTX 580 3GB, the HD 7970 is cheaper and can overclock like a monster so it's an easy choice over the GTX 580. Overclocked doesn't the HD 7970 beat the GTX 590? £450 card beats £600 card... Easy choice :)

Nice recession pricing... I suppose if my family don't need to eat for a few months... :D

Lol
