High res and overclocked that is not quite the case and they perform pretty closely
Not entirely correct. When both cards are overclocked, the GTX 680 still pulls off ahead. At higher resolutions the GTX 680 still pulls off ahead, just by a smaller margin than it does at 1080p.
The GTX 680 is still 'faster' in the vast majority of cases by definition of the word 'faster'. Even if it only comes out as 1% better, it can still be described as being 'faster'.
No overclock results are 100% guaranteed on every card, not many 7970s will go past 1100 Mhz to compare to a slightly overclocked GTX 680.
To tell everyone that they can buy a 7970 and expect it to reach 1250 Mhz in order to beat a GTX 680 is a lie.

Its no competition really, the GTX680 is definitely also cheaper, no one cares if one or two people managed to pick up a cheap 7970 from a dodgy random internet site, none of the major retailers, and most definitely OCUK who are the only companies prices we should be comparing on this forum have the 7970 priced under the GTX 680.
and the 7970 is a waste of money.
We've all seen there's roughly a 5% difference across the board when they're clock for clock and some 680's are more expensive than 7970's and vice versa.
The suggested retail price for the GTX680 is, and always should be less than a 7970. Offers and bargains come and go, not many places have cheaper 7970s, I've looked through every major etailer that I would buy from and the GTX680 is cheaper across the board.
Regarding the price, I have most certainly stated that BOTH the 7970 and GTX 680 are £100 too expensive, why do you think I am only defending Nvidia?
5% difference or 1% difference, if one card is consistently better than another in 99% of reviews, then yes its a faster card. Theres no arguing that, if one car is running at 69 MPH, and another one is running at 70 MPH, the second car is still faster than the first, even if the difference is only 1 MPH.
about how the 680 beats the 7970 hands down
Which it most definitely does in every out of the box comparison. What is wrong with stating that product A is consistently ahead speed wise compared to product B?
Would you and all the other AMD fans be going mad if I stated that the 7970 is faster than a GTX 580? Because it is, just like the GTX 680 is faster than a 7970. Its simple facts from analysing every review and comparison available.
