7990 Replacement

i paid 470 for my 7990, if i get £350 ill be happy (pays for the 290's!)

you cant run dual 7990s otherwise i'd buy it, too much heat and too unstable

the only way to do this is to have a custom workbench, a bit like that old Antek Skeleton thing

from OCUK
"It was sent back to the manufacturer on the 12th August for them to either repair or replace, at this time we haven't heard anything back from them.

We do have to allow up to the 9th September 2014 for them to provide you with a replacement.

We will notify you as soon as we receive it."

Hope it works out soon for you

an update for you.

They are returning me a 7990 (not sure if repair job or Replacment) although never know it might be a 290 ;)

Here is the technicians Test Report:

Also i may get a new full custom PC done when the new cards come out to...

my last one worked fine too for 7 months it never reached over 75, but the heat increase & dust build up did not help.

but now i got Office grade A/C it will be around 55-65c max when I switch that on.
seen my CPU reach 20c idling :D

its also a different model number my last one was 121 this is a 129

ive already made a agreement with my friend, if i get a 7990 back im swapping it with him for this MSI R9 290 gaming that i currently have in my PC.

its so much quieter and seems smoother in bf4, was getting awful FPS drops with the 7990

Any update yet smogsy, 28 days is nearly up amd i still have not heard anything from OcUK

So what will happen if the 28days is up and i still dont hear anything? The card is under 12months old btw

so they shipped me a new card the other day & it broke after 2 hours usage
(same problem) kept it for 3 days to confirm & sent it back, asked bailey my options :)

ocuk found the faulty & refunding me the money.

for you after 28 days of no replacement/repair you can ask for your money back

Good stuff. Same thing with my card only asus either had no replacements or didn't bother trying to send one so 28 days later got a refund. :)

is this a full refund? other people have said about a partial refund, is this correct?

as the card is under a year old i would expect a full refund, if it was over 12 months old then again i would understand a partial refund

sorry but that seems wrong, i paid £470 for that card 10months ago and it failed, so i either want ALL my money back or my card repaired

I would be very surprised if you got £470 back, the way it usually works is they will give you the cards value minus something for age as you have had some use out of it, and considering they were retailing at £360 when they went out of production I would be impressed if GB gave you £470.

How did this pan out in the end?

I ask as I am having to RMA an MSI 7990 this weekend as it is failing. I'd be happy with a 780TI as a replacement as I am put off AMD card's for the time being.

So if overclockers test it and find the card faulty do they not send you the replacemebt? They have to send it back to the manufacturer which could leave you without a graphics card for a month?
