Spec :

i7 4770k @4.5ghz
45x40=4000mhz uncore/multi

This is the memory i have gotten : Avexir Core Blue Series 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C9 2133MHz Quad Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U21330904G-4CI) - Blue Light

Comes with a XMP 1.3 Profile, but to me the profile settings seem very relaxed.

------------------------------------

mmq1.png

as you can see those memory performance seems not quite right
something is holding them back cant figure out how to get stable at higher uncore than 40x4000mhz

can this memory be pushed tighter ? or higher ? any recommendations i seem stable at 4.5ghz with 1.264v that seems high to me or is that about avarage :/

any tips things to try out also the memory seems to not want to boot at CMDRATE 1 only 2 :/ pc wont even boot lol could be uncore issue.
i also pushed the cpu vrm to 1.9v seems high compaired to stock 1.8v

Those look like old Hynix IC to me so should go tight at 2133. Uncore should be at 43 for as close to full perf as possible at 4.5ghz

WHat board you on? obviously its giga but which one??

Hi mate, Gigabyte z87 OC board.
i can try 43 but i have a feeling i wont be able to get stable with 43 what voltages should i give the i7 imc or board memory controller to get stable @43 cache.
also got any recommended memory timings to try out to tighten @ its rated speed hope the settings incl T1 lol
though for some reason the board will not boot up at T1 if i enable it as it is with its current timings or could be memory controller needs more juice.

EDIT: just tryed T1 got the system to boot went into windows and at login screen loading instant freeze like not enough juice somewhere got a BSOD 116.
tried with default voltages on the vrin and ring voltages with a cache of 43...
im currently in windows.

though i have a feeing it will crash if i stress something lol

Just a update 8 pack m8, i wondering where you are you vanished last night, im guessing you have the memory i got on your test bench seeing what they can do :D

i managed to get into windows stable @ 4.5ghz Uncore @4.2ghz
Ring voltage @1.25v vcore voltage is set at 1.25v and also got T1 enabled.

somehow though this board is flaky with the vcore voltage for some reason its showing up as 1.270v in the bios and showing in aida as 1.272v and showing in cpuz @ 1.250v seems the vcore readings are not all true for some reason. vrin is set at 1.850v from 1.800v default.
Everything is is auto.

even though im stable at 42 uncore i cant for the life of me boot @ 43 uncore it gets to the windows loading screen then i press to log in then i get a instant freeze before it even shows the windows desktop then i have to force reboot once back in windows it says your computer was shutdown to prevent damage ect with a BSOD of 116 seems my graphics card was what freezed and couldnt reset with a freeze coming from the amddiag file.

why would that cause lockup :/
i have every power connected to the motherboard incl cpu 4 pin and 6 pin
only power i dont have plugged in is the PCI express extra power cable on the mobo but thats only there for if you want to use 3-4 cards in crossfire all i am using in 3 pci express sockets is 2x 7950s and 1 zxr creative sound card. psu im using is pcpower silencer mkII 950w.

very strange, had any luck finding out if there are tighter timings i can try to use
here is a image now of the memory at T1, not much change from T2 imho

hmdl.png

as you can see very weird its like i enabled T1 in the bios but its still running showing T2 performance even though it shows T1 as enabled in windows.....
though windows feels a little more snappier so i dunno whats going on

i will wait for your update to my Qs cheers.

I am away at Games Con now mate till Monday. When I get back in the office Tuesday I will set up those dimms and have a go at tuning and clocking them.

Use a multimeter to check Vcore exactly. That solves that problem for sure.

116 is usually a PCH related voltage code or a problem with multiple graphics. Try high PCH voltages for that one, or maybe more ring. Having said this 42x is fine for 45 multi.

With DRAM try tune the seconds so TWCL is 7 TREF is 7936 and TRFC slowly tune down towards 96. Go try 150,128,114,107 then 96.

Ok mate i will get back to you with some more testing ever the weekend, then report my findings, loving this haswell processor its quite a bit of a jump from my 4.1ghz i7 920do i can feel wich is a + :D

ok catch ya after games con ;)

Update mate,
been having a hell of a time with this memory failing on memtest86 with 4 dimms
but pulling 2x of them no errors tested every slot single and dual no errors but when i test all 4 i get errors sometimes in test 6 and 7.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Could i have bought a lemon i7 4770k with very bad imc i can only put it down to the imc is very weak infact more weak than my i7 920do even that cpu had a weak imc but i got no errors in memtest with 6 dims fully loaded this i7 4770k spits out these errors even at stock speeds.
-----------------------------------
so to remedy the issue i have ordered this stuff : Avexir Venom Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17200C9 2133MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U21330908G-2CIG) - Green Light
---------------------------------

If you could test those for the fastest timeings you can get aswell as fast stable timings that any of these modules can do that would be great, there are exactly the same stuff aswell as 9-10-11-27 ect apart from the fact there 2x8 instead of 4x4.
---------------------------------

now my next issue is graphics.
i have tested installed and reinstalled drivers but i still get the same issue, in splinter cell black list my system is freezing up after 10-15 minutes sometimes faster, with a bsod116 @ some ati .dll file
and i will have to hard reboot, other times it will freeze and be able to recover so i can see in the even viewer that the fail was from a faulting module @ atixx32.dll

these cards worked perfect with my x58 system no issues at all, i have tried pci express gen 2 and 3, in gen 2 though the issue happens a lot slower but eventually it will happen.

this is with the system running stock aswell. only thing that was different was the memory was running @xmp. no changes to voltages apart from 1.65v mem.

--------------------------------------

i have no idea whats going on, even tried the game with crossfire disabled and memory clock reduced, still crashes out.

im at a loss cause all i have changed in my system is the cpu/mobo/mem
thought it was going to be easy to set this up but its been a nightmare, and unfortunatlly the cpu/mobo is about 15-25 days old and the memory 7+ days old, though i pulled out a rma refund on the memory as its fine and not fauly but this system does not like 4 slots occupied :(

Update again mate, been testing out a few games

tested the witcher 2 out @ max settings incl uber settings mode, max tasking of the gpus 99%/97%

played the game for about a hour /half, max temps 77c on bottom card 85-86c top card, wich is normal as there is about a 10c between the 2 cards and there both oc`d @1120/1450 2x7950s
no issues at all, never crashed never froze up.....

then i played tomb raider max out no issues again

played a few other games out no crashes or freezes.

---------------------------------------------

makes me wonder if its the game thats ****ed.
splinter cell blacklist, no one seems to be having these issues though, and i have reinstalled and updated to latest 1.01v still broken

i dont know what is causing it........ bugging the hell out of me trying to figure this one out. :(

Hope you will read all these updates lol
update again, well i think something is defo broken with this motheboard or cpu.

i should be stable as hell at what voltage im running for 4.5ghz 4.2ghz uncore but im not
running ring voltage @1.250v
and vcore @ 1.260v wich is around 1.272v in windows under load.
with a system agent of +15
everything else is auto.

i run prime95 max blend for 1 minute and i get 4 worker failures.
and before the workers failed temps jumped to around 76c within a 5 seconds and stayed there then jumped up to low 80s. before the failures. :(

what the hell is going on....

While I don't have any particular advice for you, if you're still running with 4 rather than 2 sticks, you'll likely have to loosen the timings and perhaps up the memory voltage a bit to be stable.

Well my new memory arrives tommorow, so after work im going to pull the 4 sticks and put the 2 new sticks in and then run memtest86 for 2 full passes and then run 10 passes of test 6 and 7

though if no errors and i still crash out im going to send both the board and cpu and memory back to ocuk so they can get it under the test bench and find the issues out and replace what ever needs replacing to fix this nightmare of a system build... they better not think about charging me either, im about to pull my hair out over this mess.... stress LOL would be funny though ocuk getting all the parts and finding out nothing is wrong with any of it.....
i would cry lol

arghhhhhhh been testing the uncore as that seems related to the 116bsod and ati.dll issues
seems i cant boot up @45uncore at all, instant 116 bsod
44 uncore 116 bsod again
43 uncore can get into windows but freezing blacklist 116 bsod
42 can play some games but blacklist freezing @116 bsod

how the **** can others get 45 uncore stable if i lower the cpu speed and test uncore by its self 116 bsod past 42uncore hell even 42 uncore is not stable...

there must be something wrong as i removed 2 of the memory sticks to see if it was imc issue but it cant be with 2 sticks in the black slots have not tried the orange slots but i cant see that makeing the slightest difference.

this pc is broken something seriously wrong with the hardware i bought from OCUK.
lemon city lol, i dont know what else to try cause i think i have tried almost everything.....

update again, :( things are not looking good.
ran memtest on the new venom green 2x8 16gb 2133 memory, no errors no issues :D
thank god,

ran aida32 stress test for 2 hours, no issues highest temp was 74c under 80c ;) good again.
then i ran splinter cell.

after about 10 minutes, freeze though it did not bsod just freeze up had to hard reboot though i bet you it was that bsod 116...
now 2 things spring to mind, either the motherboard does not like my cards highly unlikely or the motherboard is faulty when in crossfire or none crossfire

i dont know what the **** is going on, any help 8pack im going insane :(

SO meny updates lol
well mate i just ran a torture test on both my cards ................

-----------------------------------------------

z1d4.png

im cluless now as to what the problem is with splintercell and its freezing 116 bsod issue
and why my computer will not boot up @44x or 45x uncore with out 116 bsoding
even 43 bsods but i can get into windows.
42 stable in windows completely with aida and graphics stress test but splintercell blacklist produces the same 116 bsod/freezing issue...

the torcher test is something i wouldnt normally do as the stress it gives out is no where near what a game will stress out but the cards never failed so i dunno whats going on temps look good under torcher to :/

116 often means you need more chipset voltage. Have you tried this option. For 4.5ghz OC 4.2 uncore is fine.

Whats the save voltages for chipset on z87 oc mate ?
core or io ? though the voltages in there are not linked to the graphics cards and only linked to a card in the very bottom pci express slot....

or are you talking about sysagent cause i have maxed that out at 1.25v and still bsod116
hell i get the 116bsod on stock bios optimum defaults with only xmp enabled and still 116.

------------------

also you had a chance mate to see what timings you can get with the green venom 2133 2x8gb set of memory i bought ? :D

OK update, bumped the chipset voltage up and it made no difference at all to the 116bsod issue...

I think this motherboard is faulty or my graphics cards are faulty, its one of the two.
cant get the motherboard stable no matter what i do at over 40 uncore
and my graphics card drivers take forever to install
i have installed a brand new windows 8 onto another hdd and still windows 8 bsod`s
i even run the gpuz bus speed test and the system bsods at that to.
sometimes when i do get the drivers installed they will boot up at weird low speeds.
------------------------------

i even tried to play a few games
bf3 single player just freezes with a loud repeating sound.
splintercell will crash alsmost at the exact same place or sometimes randomly but more the same place than random, with a freeze / sometimes i can get out of this with alt+tabing, with a driver has been recovered.
sometimes is a hard lock wich results in hard reboot.

-------------------------------------

what do you suggest i do now
send the mobo back for refund and buy a replacent or send my graphics cards in for testing.
unfortunatly due to work i only last week managed to mess with the system though i have has the stuff in boxes for 2 weeks, so i dont think ocuk will give me a refund :/ so i dont know what to do now.
