To celebrate the launch of the super powerful IMC on the latest generation Intel Haswell CPU I decided I would run a competition based around the king of all memory tweaking and overclocking benches Super Pi 32m. Super Pi 32m is the blue ribbon event of 2D benching and is the one all the top clockers strive to master and compete in. Haswell is very efficient in this bench and so this is the perfect time to introduce such a comp.

I am currently in Taiwan at Computex entering the Corsair Main event to compete for a prize fund of $20,000 of which the main prize is 32m based. This again shows how hard this bench is to master.I am to be the subject of full streaming on OCN if you want to watch me in action!!!

The rules behind this competition are as follows:

-The competition runs from Sunday 2nd June to midnight Sunday 30th June.

-The person with the lowest time to complete Super Pi 32m Time at the closing Time wins the prize.

- The prize is a full Intel Haswell 4770K Upgrade kit to include Intel 4770K CPU, After Market Air Cooler, Corsair 2 x4gb 2133mhz RAM and MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming Series motherboard. The Bundle will come with a Super Pi Profile 8 PACK has tweaked himself for optimal bench performance. He may also be persuaded to do a 24/7 overclock profile too;)

- Submissions by forum members only.

-Download Super Pi mod from here
http://downloads.hwbot.org/downloads/benchmarks/super_pi_mod.exe

-Run 32m with your CPU at 4ghz Clock speed and if your CPU has Uncore with Uncore at 4ghz too ( I will give a 1% allowance in this so if CPU Z in your submission screen shot shows 4040mhz or less you are ok, I am allowing this as CPU-Z often shows 100.xx BLK even when you set 100 in Bios) Any CPU can be used.

- All submissions must be on the competition Desktop Background which can be downloaded from:http://imageshack.us/download/28/8pack4ghzchallenge.jpg

-All submissions must have a screen shot of the time at the end of Super Pi 32m and Pi calculation done box.

-All submission Must have CPU Z open on Both CPU Speed and Type Tab and Memory Tab as bare minimum. MB and SPD of Memory can be shown if you wish. No CPU Speed and Memory Tab no submission.

- No software can be used at any stage to during the benchmark run interfere with the speed of CPU, Memory BLK etc.... If it looks too good to be true it is and the submission will be removed and the submitter banned from the rest of the Comp.

- 8 Packs decision is final!!!

Here are some example screen shots.

BBSE IC
Hynix IC

AIDA testing For Hynix!!!

Good luck all and tweak those systems!!!

Provisional top ten!!! Raikiri I will test this score of yours myself tomorrow as it seems to good to be true!!

Thats exactly what I thought Stulid. This comp I wanted to be about system and memory tweaking and not CPU power. hence the 4ghz which I honestly though most could achieve.

a lot of other forums do 5ghz but I deemed that too elitist. I dont think 4.oghz on AMD or anything SB or beyond is difficult at all. I want people to enter!!!

The key here is not about times always its about learning to tweak the system and in the process gaining valuable knowledge into your own system and possible perf improvements.

Questions for 8 Pack

I would guess if you can't make the CPU speed of 4Ghz that being under would be OK ?

Are Haswell's disqualified ?
Seems odd that to win one you use one.

Haswells are fine. Yes under 4ghz is fine too.

I am glade so many are trying this. I will get a leaderboard up and running in the next couple of days.

Thanks Tonster. I get back Sunday from Computex so I will take on all the foot work then and maybe give some pointers too :)

Back in the UK today. I will have another go at this tomorrow and post up a leaderboard on whats been done so far.

Great effort guys.

LN2 Cooled BBSE, PSC or Hynix these days are the ones in with a shout. I used Hynix for the 32m World Record last week.

I have some new BBSE to try that I got from GSKILL as well as some more GSKILL Hynix. Am gonna try again tomorrow for sure.

Kei thanks so much for your help with the leaderboard. I have been so busy recently with Taiwan and Haswell launch plus several other projects.

Here is my new best:

Yes they are the GSKILL BBSE IC kit. Ripjaws.

There is more in this run a couple of settings can tweak further on the next run. TRP I think can be 6 and TRFC can be 60 for starters with more volts.

Really. Mines the complete opposites. All my fastest times have come in Windows 7 and I'm seeing PI errors when it doesn't complete. Not sure whether it's because I'm only on SP2 on XP but I just can get close to Windows 7 times. What kind of times are you getting on XP?

Have you tweaked the XP for Pi efficiency. Windows 7 has Large system cache enabled by default XP does not. LSC is your friend!!!;)

If your insulation is good probably not. Its all about keeping moisture out.

I have used tin foil several times with LN2 and its been fine. Aany problems with stability you just stop dry out and go again. Not all sticks like extreme cold though. You need temp probes attached to the sticks so as to monitor any cold bugging.

BBSE that is mate. I have some hyperX too good for Cl6 2600. I think I will take a pic of my RAM collection this weekend just to show. Its a serious amount of sticks.
