8320 upgrade...to which Ryzen CPU?

to me i changed my mind and thought no.
i originally bought the 1700 and while waiting for the mobo's to appear seemed like forever i sent it back got the 1600
and with the 120 saved i got a mobo of the MM, i'll get 8 or 10 cores with better ipc when the time comes. will be a while yet methinks..
I doubt 10+ core chips will appear on AM4 until AMD moves to 7 nm, which won't be until 2019 at the earliest. 8c/16t Zen+ might be a gem though, we'll have to see.

1700 if you can afford it, the 1700x and 1800x are not worth it if overclocking but 8 cores is very nice indeed. Windows and games are so fluid... hard to explain...

I have decided, the 1700 it is! Not going to buy a GPU at the moment as the temp mining craze is making the GPU's a bit over priced. So Im going to grab an Samsung 960 Evo NVME drive to replace the SATA SSD whats currently in there. Should see a nice speed boost along side the 1700.

I hate to be that guy but i didnt notice a lick of difference between an old sata ssd and SM951 nvme ssd.

You wouldn't in most everyday scenarios. Even things like game loading times are only improved by a small percentage, unlike the switch from AHCI SATA HDD to AHCI SATA SSD, where it could be many times faster in some cases.

1600 is good , but 1700 is better if you can afford. I was gonna go the 1600 route but couldn't wait. But now i think, its a proper upgrade from 4 cores to 8 :p

4 to 6 in my eyes would be like half measures :D
4 threads to 12 threads thou. Impressive.

I had a similar dilemma, previous was a fx 6350, sensible thought was to wait for the Ryzen 1600 but couldn't wait, picked up the 1700 while convincing myself that more cores ( even though I don't do much more than gaming ) will be better in the long run. Safe to say after a few months I don't regret my choice, the 1700 will serve you well and fingers crossed more cores becomes a positive factor for future games

Already purchased my 1700 for £275 :) That was enough of a price drop to justified getting that over the 1600.

Installed over the weekend. Big leap from my 8320, only slightly behind my 4790K on the benchmarks.
