Seems that the majority are Pit Bulls. Are they particularly aggressive or do the owners intentionally work on the dogs behaviour?Dunno if this is helpful or not. The link below is a list of fatal dog attacks in the US over 10 years- quite a lot. Looking at that list, you can see a few breeds (pit bulls, especially) are involved in the majority of those attacks, though smaller dogs do crop up. I don't know how dog ownership by breed stacks up in the US, but this list shows that certain breeds are far more likely to inflict fatal injuries.

What really surprised me is people killed by packs of stray dogs in the US, I assumed that would be vanishingly rare- apparently not.
