I'm running the below spec on a 650W NZXT C series PSU (A tier, based on Seasonic Focus Gold) and realise I'm on the edge of what PSU I should really be using. I don't really have a budget so my options are:

1) Continue to run as-is with a power limit reduction on the 9070XT
2) Buy a new PSU

I don't really want to have to spend any money but it's probably sensible, there are a few ~850W around the £100 mark and I don't need anything fancy apart from modular.
I'm tempted by BGrade PSUs as they'd be cheap but 10yr warranties are very tempting.

Any suggestions?

7950X3D
Arctic Freezer III 240 AiO
XFX Swift 9070XT (power limit minus 7%)
Asrock B650 PG Lightning
32GB 6000 CL 28
PCIE Wifi 6 card

The 9070 series respond well to undervolting, I'd do that and see how you get on. You shouldn't see any performance loss. I know a few people running them on quality 650w units without issue. Worst case you get shutdowns, with a high end supply you've plenty of built in protections, nothing should get damaged. Best case it works fine and you save yourself a £100.

I'm at -50mv and -7/9% power, I think it's probably ok but as mentioned the sensible thing is to get a new PSU :/

Can get a Gigabyte UD850GM for £80 (5 year warranty) or a Corsair RM850e for £104 (7 year warranty). Gigabyte should have fixed their fire problem but it might be worth going with the Corsair for peace of mind.

How much power are you actually using when gaming (whole system)?

Do you game much?

GPU hits up to 300W at full tilt (if I uncap fps). CPU ~ 80-100W (Playing Ghost Recon BP).

Spikes are probably the biggest issue, I've had a couple of blackout reboots before I dropped the power which I attributed to spikes and haven't had them since so I'm making an educated guess that I'm on the edge.

Yes I game a fair bit.

You could be brave like me and get a Montech Century II 850W PCIE 5.1 80+ GOLD Fully Modular ATX3.1 Power Supply :D Can find it for £80 new. I got the 1050W version for £100 a couple of days ago.

Early days yet, but I'm encouraged by how it's resolved the coil whine issues I thought were due to my GPU.

Why risk it? maybe look at these

Seems decent psu and i wouldnt say expensive to keep your system running good, im going to get the 1000w or the 1200w when i upgrade mine for future proofing, 10 year guarantee as well.

Why risk it?
Yep. It's a very weird mindset that a group of folks on here have. They'll spend a big wedge of money on a GPU for example but yet run an under spec PSU and won't spend ~£150 to give themselves a decade of smooth running or to meet manufacturer recommendations. I can only assume these are the same people that would own a sports car but fit budget tyres because "hey, it has never crashed".

Its A tier, reviews well, what are you talking about, this isn't some £35 no name
