when are these 8800gts 320mb price drops expected?

I think we need to define some things here.Ulfhedjinn said:Looks like I am going to have to join the LoadsaMoney parade and accept that ATI just got knocked out of the mid-range. More like a punch to the ovaries out of the mid-range really.
I would definitely agree with that.FoxEye said:I think we need to define some things here.
Budget... up to £60 (?)
Mainstream... £60 to £100 (?)
Mid-range... £100 to £200 (?)
Performance... £200 to £250 (?)
Enthusiast... £250 and above (?)

Ok, "when they are out."Tute said:Well not really as these cards aren't out yet.
I'm following this closely, I would like to see an 8600 "Ultra" part, maybe around 7900GTX speed but single slot and cool running.

Ulfhedjinn said:How is the 8800 series greatly overpriced?
I am usually the first to complain about pricing but the 8800GTS in particular is very competitive at the moment, especially considering that G80 is the only next-gen part on the market right now.
I'm not sure how anyone can call £190 "greatly ovepriced" for such a powerful card, sorry.
If that makes me a "mug" then so be it. I am usually a skint-flint with GPUs, and I say they're good value.
Computer_Kid said:I disagree look at it like this a 7600 gt can be had for around
£60 so unless it's double the performance of that i dont think
it will sell well at all if they price it around the £130-£150 mark.
IMO the 8800 series is greatly overpriced with dx10 coming it's probably got less
than 6 months left being able to run games at max details high res very well
and still it's £400! a top end card shouldnt be more
than £150 let alone £300.But as long as mugs(and rich people) exist
they will set these crazy prices. If nobody paid £400 for a card what do you think would happen.
Computer_Kid said:How is saying paying £200 the price of a great processor and motherboard misinformed and silly? i think it's overpriced.Just my opinion and the term mug.
is a little strong i guess if you are willing to pay that for what is essentially
a 6 month lifespan of running max detailed max aa games then be my guest.
£175 is still overpriced can get a decent board and cpu again for that..
A card should not be the price of the board and cpu combined ever.
Yes and the reason you downgraded is because you felt it was overpriced
for the performance you got or you would still have it correct?.
Your logic is hypercritical to say the least.
Computer_Kid said:You think the 8800 gts 320mb will be running quake wars and not to mention many other upcoming games maxed out think again.
I use a 7600 gt because it's the only fairly priced card out at the moment
bang for buck.I wouldnt throw many away spending £200 on a graphics card
ever.
Computer_Kid said:It's playing c&c 3 right now maxed depends on what res your talking.
The 8800 series is repulsively overpriced.
