880+880Ti to be cheaper than current gen ! :D

I wish NVidia would do some more reasonable pricing for the next generation. But I have a feeling my wish will not be granted!

There's a difference between cheaper than current gen's "current price" and current gen's "launch price" :p

If it was the latter, considering the GTX780 was launched at £550-£650, by cheaper it could just mean the GTX880 or GTX880Ti (whichever is the top card) would be launch at £530-£630, a whole £20 cheaper (but still overpriced :p)

True its another non-story. Does not state prices or how much cheaper. It could end up being £10 cheaper than the GTX 780 at launch which means the stories true but hardly worthy of note.

"Could be cheaper because of smaller process node"

Wishful thinking guys ^^^^ since when have Nvidia or AMD reduced the price of a model number categorised card because its faster and on a smaller node?

The price of high end GPU's has remained pretty constant since 40nm for AMD and gone up for Nvidia.

At the very least prices will remain constant for both on 20nm.

PC Games And Hardware are making this provisition for in doing so they hope it will come true.

They are living in lala land.

A GTX 880TI will be 30% faster and cost the same if not more.

a quick google tells me that the 6970 launched at £270
the 7970 ~£500
the 290X £450

where as the GTX580 launched at £400
the 680 £400
the 780 £550 but then dropped to £400
and then 780ti £550

if the 880 is a GM104 and not a GM110 then they could well cut the price (from £550) as well as make higher profits for them and their partners
I definitely don't think it will be south of £400 though, so it depends what they mean by cheaper

7970's could be had from OcuK for £420 or £430 on launch andy. No doubt there were some models around £500 though.

Would i like to see cheaper products from Both venders Yes :)
Do i think it will happen? nope
There's nothing wrong with charging £500+ graphic card, but the problem is the amount of performance increase vs the gen before it is now pretty pitiful, comparing back to the 8800 days...when it was around 80-100% faster than the top card in the previous gen.

okay, yeah, the unbranded one, that wasn't in stock and had a long lead time iirc
even so, going from £270 to £450-500 was a bit of a shocker at the time :D

Sometimes you just have to pay a bit more for an overall superior product, something nvidia users do.

Any price drop is always welcomed though.

Titan Z "cough" Titan Z ignoring the exclusive like Physx. Based on performance only I don't think the extra price for a nvidia GPU is anywhere near worth it.

The only time it becomes worth it is, if a. You enjoy the odd Physx games or b. You just got a Gsync monitor what is also over priced.

My 2cents
