8800GTS 640 vs 8800GT Benchmarks here

I suppose it wouldn't hurt, but with them being back-ordered again I'd hate to be left high and dry with a 7300 until it came. Edit: Sod it just pre-ordered the cheapest OcUK one, I can wait until it's here before listing my 8800GTX for sale. :D

Nice one, you'll not regret it, the GT is an absolute stormer, im well impressed with mine. :D

Good work there 555BUK, should help a lot of ppl that. :)

Overclock that CPU you numpty, you must be the only person running an 8800GT on a stock E6600. :p

We'll see, at the mo im more than happy with the performance. :p

Loadsa surely you know how to overclock yer CPU now? I'm sure last time I messaged u bout it you said you dint know how to :p

I do know as its all in the sticky in the mobo section, just can't be bothered as im happy with the performance im getting, you only need to overclock really if you wanna get big scores in 3D marks, but all i do is play games and use the net, and it does fine at those, not interested in how many 3D marks i can get, or break. :D

So lets see your rigs true 3DMark scores :p

Ive already posted my score, i only run 3D marks to make sure its all runnig fine, as long as i get what im supposed to get then theres no worrying. :)

OC'ing the CPU WILL see huge gains in your games... fact. 2.4ghz is low for a C2D... you'd see big boosts with a 3.2ghz CPU. Not sure why you're so worried about doing it... it's quite safe you know. "Can't be bothered" isn't a valid excuse... it takes minutes to do and literally gets you something for nothing, performance of a far higher value CPU. There must be some other underlying reason why you don't. Burn something in the past maybe in some freak oC'ing accident? :)

Im well impressed, just lobbed it in and ran 06, just under 10.5k, my GTS got just over 9.4k, ran the Crysis bench, same settings as my GTS, GTS was getting 35. summit, my GT got just under 47!!, amazing, and its well quiet, can only hear it when you first turn on for about 2-3 seconds, sounds like someone standing there setting a drill going , but other than that its silent just like my GTS was, even under load, she's idling about 54-55 now that she's settling in (just like my GTS), and underload was about 72 (again same as GTS), cracking card.

:|

surpised you notice the 10fps difference, seems to be a pointless upgrade if you have a GTS imo

Thats only 12 more in Crysis, which is only 1x game, the difference varies, its not just 12 faster across the board, for example in Episode 2, my GTS could only manage 2xAA with SuperSampling, any higher it used to lag, my GT can handle the full 16x QSAA with Super, and it still absolutely belts along, the difference there is a lot more than 12, so hows it a pointless upgrade, you may as well say ive gone from a 320mb GTS to a GTX with 512mb, as the GT is only a couple frames slower at my res, like in Crysis, the GTX is only faster by 1 frame at 1280x1024 (my res), so pointless going from a 320mb GTS to a GTX, not pointless at all, even more so as they only £150+ and the GTX is £300+. :p
