8800GTS 640 vs 8800GT Benchmarks here

Great work 555BUK, thanks for taking the time. The results are more than I expected, out of the card. Just glad I did'nt cave in and buy a 8600GT.
Looking forward to ordering an EVGA 8800GT when there in stock.

555BUK:

Thanks for taking the time to put this together for us, excellent information.

Looks like me 7900GTO is going and the GTS get demoted to the second rig.

Nice benchmarking mate, and well laid out too! Very very helpful!

As others said, thanks for taking the time to put this together for us.

The 8800GT's are going to be THE cards to have by the looks of things :)

for a lot of ppl yes but it depends on what res you're at.

for me personally i'm keeping my 8800GTX because i'm at 1920x1200 ....tempting to look at 2 8800GT's in SLI but 512mb shows its weakness with DX10 + filtering.

He will get more £ for his GTX now than after the new GTX is out, and a GT is not far behind a GTX or Ultra at 1600x1200 or lower (well the EVGA 8800GT SSC I seen benches of).

He can then sell his 8800GT while still current in a few months and buy a new GTX :)

Im well impressed, just lobbed it in and ran 06, just under 10.5k, my GTS got just over 9.4k, ran the Crysis bench, same settings as my GTS, GTS was getting 35. summit, my GT got just under 47!!, amazing, and its well quiet, can only hear it when you first turn on for about 2-3 seconds, sounds like someone standing there setting a drill going , but other than that its silent just like my GTS was, even under load, she's idling about 54-55 now that she's settling in (just like my GTS), and underload was about 72 (again same as GTS), cracking card.

Aye I paid £300 for my GTX, so if I sell it and buy a GT I'm pretty much making free money back. On the plus side it's single slot and might overclock like mad, I've wanted a 65nm 8800 since February.

I'll be holding onto it until the next family of cards is out though I think rather than going for another GTX.

Overclock that CPU you numpty, you must be the only person running an 8800GT on a stock E6600. :p
