8800gtx driver issues

Not sure what to suggest, the fix on xp was to just reinstall the install shield. However you can't download the latest version at the moment. Not even sure if this is the fault.

hmm....

well i'm tempted to just format the hdd, and start again, but when i was first installing vista the first time it didn't work, and it only worked on like the 5th try. I'm not sure what to do. :(

Where did you get your windows vista from. Reason i ask is it shouldn't take 5 installs of vista
to get one working and from the sounds of it it still isn't a good install.

have you checked the bios for correct voltages etc?

The first time i built my new pc a couple of weeks ago, I kept on getting blue screens installed vista, found out I wasn't supplying the correct voltage to my RAM (should have been 2.0 - 2.1v) but i was supplying 1.8v etc

Yea sorry i forgot ya ain't allowed to say. It sounds to me like you either got a bad
copy of vista or somethings up with your machine somewhere as 5 installs is to much.
It really should have worked first install. Have a look at the disc see if theres any deep scratches on it. If so return it.

to check your voltages, go into your BIOS and report back what they say, i'm off now though so i prob wont be able to help anymore until 2moro, but post them anyway as i'm sure someone else will spot if something isnt quite right

Ah I missed that fact that your hardware is new too. Assumed you had it running ok on xp. And the fact you had to try installing vista a load of times. Its something hardware side. As ljt said you might not have the volts right.

i like to call them "Scam" atm. they delivered everything, to the wrong address, two days late. and now the parts don't even work... pfff. I pretty narked tbh. I should have just bought a pre-made package. now I'm broke and have no PC.

Just formatt it agian with a with a new install of vista and if that don't work see if you can get hold of xp cd and do a new install of that. It will only take 30mins worth a try i guess.

If that don't work i don't know what too say.

well ok thanks, for you're help anyway. I'll try doing wht you said.

I spose i just failed at buildin a PC. I'll give someone £20 if they can come to coventry and fix it though?

You can reactivate it np. However i doubt there is much point as it very much sounds like its hardware.
Does your BIOS have a hardware monitor in it, that should tell you the volts you have it set too.
Or you could just go and set the volts instead of being on auto.
