8800GTX Extreme or 9600GT AMP edition

sell the 9600GT, and get a 9600XT.

So out of the two boards I have you say I should keep the XFX 8800GTX extreme

and send the 9600 GT AMP edition back I am not going to get another board

Yes, not really a difficult decision. 8800gtx much better than 9600gt

9800 GTX is slower than the 8800 GTX, the 9600 GT is a lot slower, its below the 8800 GT.

Goes like this (Fastest at top).

9800 GX2
8800 Ultra
8800 GTX
9800 GTX = 8800 GTS 512mb
8800 GT
9600 GT

Id keep the 8800 GTX and get rid of the 9600 GT.

No, the 9800 GTX is just an 8800 GTS 512mb with a new name and an extra SLi connector so it can be Tri SLi'd, and also got hiked in price, so an 8800 GTS 512mb with 2x SLi connectors, is not faster than an 8800 GTS 512mb with only 1x SLi connector.

ATi cards are posted above, but id put the 2900 XT = with the 3870 XT, as the 3870 is a 2900 XT, just with a new name.

Tbh though, the 9600 GT would handle 1280x12024 fine, probably not be that much slower than the 8800 GTX at that res, or not at all if its the AMP edition, so id send the GTX back, as the 9600 should have been the cheapest out of the 2x.
