8800GTX performance cod4

all depends whether online or single player.so many get this wrapped round there head its crazy.also the minimum fps and max fps.maps make a vast difference aswell.also go on a 50 man server with shed loads of smoke and other carnage and watch your fps cry :D

some kind of idea taken from benchmark

Call of Duty 4 Performance 1600x1200x32
Card Min FPS Max FPS
GeForce 8800 GTX SLI 62 165
GeForce 8800 Ultra 44 84
GeForce 8800 GTX 42 79

everything on full x4aa .so really 1600 res online is bit too much for gtx.single player not.before the crazy people start check the minimum fps as during manic battles thats what can mean the difference.42 fps is to low.

I played COD4 at launch on Vista 64Ult with no patches obv.

All settings were MAX'd in GPU Console and Games Menu and Res was set to 1920x1440.

I had ZERO issues and completed the game before any patches arrived (very short but good).

Ive never had many issues with cod 4 online, playing at 1920x1200, 4xaa max settings on an overclocked 8800gts 512. FPS dips a bit in large 50 player servers when things get a bit hectic. most of my problems come from my isp (bt) throttling my connection during peak times.

Take the swearing out you numpty before you get banned.

And if I can run MAX details and 4xAA at 1680*1050 with an 8800GT... then so can he with a GTX.

I have posted proof the frame rates get cut more than half with 4xAA enabled.

I used 4xAA Supersampling, texture filtering on high quality with 16x AF, Negative LOD bias set to 'clamp' to take out the aliasing of distant textures.

Are you running the same control panel settings?

The system i am running on:

C2D E6850 3.0Ghz
Intel DP35DP Motherboard P35
2GB Corsair DDR2 800 5-5-5-12
150GB Raptor
XP SP3

I have seen the 8800GTX run COD4 with some level of AA @ 16x10, but the guy was running his texture filtering at the default 'Quality' mode, as for the type of AA he was using i have no idea.

I have a friend who runs @ 16x10 with 2xAA and gets bad frame rates in certain areas, he does max out his control panel though.

Also you can't tell someone they can max out a game without giving out figures and settings, what may seem 'playable' to you, will differ to someone else.

I have found that the ingame settings can conflict with the control panel settings, i use the max graphical settings in the control panel with the exception of AA and AF which i set to 'Application controled' and then set x4AA and x16AF using the ingame settings. Works fine for me and at the only time i notice any slowdown is at the start of the mission starting in the swamp and thats only for the first few seconds.

I noticed extreme graphical glitches when forcing AA in the control panel, but disabling AA within game.

I'll test out the settings in more depth when i get some time.

I'm running COD4 on v1.7 and keep punkbuster upto date, using Nvidia beta 177.79's and Rivatuner v2.09, latest DX9 too, running XP Pro 32 bit

Play at 1920x1200 with 4AA and 8AF set in game, every other setting in game maxed out

Control panel settings

AF 8x
AA mode - enhance app setting
AA 4x
AA transp - multisampling
Force mipmaps - Tri
Text filter neg LOD bias - clamp
Text filter qual - high

Looks great, runs like a dream, no glitches or stuttering or freezing at all
