8GB 2 or 4?

I managed to get a maximum 1933ish at C9 out of my RipJaw 2000 Ram.
I got into windows at 2000mhz but it crashed the moment I started Prime95.

The board and memory combination seems very happy at 1800 C8, and I'm sure the i790 will do four sticks at that!

The only reason Im going for the Patriot ones are because they are SLI and designed just for the 790i ultra although they will work in other motherboards mine will be able to change the settings simply and no messing about. you got me thinking now do I want 4 or 8 lol. well probalby 4 for now as its nearly £150 a pair. well if my car passes the MOT on friday then I will be getting them if not maybe next month lol

I remember when my first PC had a whopping 8mb Ram then I upgraded to 16 Mb my how things change lol

I do a lot of photo editing and coupled with minimum frame rate improvements highlighted by that article (my two 8800gt's need all the help they can get) I succumbed to the temptation and bought two more sticks of RipJaw PC12800.

Interestingly enough, for the first time ever, I actually got 1T timing with two sticks of Ripjaw at 1650 C7!

I have 8GB and it's not nearly enough for me :( Really depends what you're doing with your box. 4 VM's assigned 2GB each and by by 8GB. As has been said, memory is cheap as chips these days so I tend to say a little extra wont hurt.

Technically speaking I think 4x2GB modules theoretically should be faster than 2X4GB (given they are the same specification). But the difference would be so insignificant you'd not notice it.

if your still planning on giving away the old ram? :p

i use 4 Gb and its pleanty but if i were you then get more as its cheap and futureproof, i know everyones said everything i have but just giving my vote :D

yeah lol i am, running autocad 2010 with 2 gig is not working out too good for me its passable but i know if i double or tripple it its going to speed up my work.

Well the extra 4gb went in last night. I had to increase the latency from CL7 to CL8 but its still working at 1650mhz... that nets me 3.3ghz on my Q9450 so I'm happy with that.

Vista would show 40% used memory before loading any actual apps... it now shows 20% used so that does leave more to play with - I can now run my Vista development Vitrual PC AND load up Photoshop CS3 with a handful of 12mp RAW files without the system grinding to a halt!

I just need to try out Farcry 2 and Crysis to see if there is any tangible gaming improvement...
