Just out of curiousity, what makes the lightning better for this than the titan?

Manufacturers aren't allowed to modify the PCB of the Titan cards, each and every one is identical so it's simple GPU pot luck.

MSI, as always, go way overboard on their upgrades for the Lightning card and these upgrades make it possible for 8Pack to push the GTX 780 GPU further than anyone else has managed to push the Titan.

Ah I see, didn't realise the Titan was reference only. Seems a bit of an odd decision given that people usually get the top card to OC the nuts off it.
