8Packs no BS testing Intel 8700K and Z370 with Delid 5ghz and above available from OCUK.

Hi I purchased the Binned 5.0Ghz 8700k, I have been trying to get it to run stable for the past few days giving it up to 1.425V but it crashes(blue screen) in games and benchmarks(Realbench,Prime95v26.6), Im sure temps are not the problem. The ram is known working from my old z170 build.
I have done a clean install of windows. I have tried the Gigabyte built in auto overclock to 5GHZ and that also causes blue screens.

Blue Screen errors I have been getting are - (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) - (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA) - (SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION)

My setup is - Aorus Gaming 7(Latest F4a BIOS) and 16GB TridentZ 3200Mhz C16

Should be fine with 1.375v no issue.

You setting cache to 44 which is stock as Intels auto rule is one to one ratio with core which causes instability.

Vccio 1.1
Vccsa same

Also llc turbo

That error does look like memory so try testing with hci mem test.

Thanks for the reply 8 Pack, spent another day trying to get it stable. I ran Memtest XMP enabled at stock CPU speeds and then again with the OC settings you recommended 0 errors both times. - https://imgur.com/a/WqIfC

With the OC settings you recommended I am still getting Blue Screens in Prime95 v26.6, realbench and games I observed a new one - KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Is it possible there is something wrong with the CPU? Am a bit annoyed having spent £750+ on CPU and mobo and days trying to fix this :(
I tried your recommended settings with a even higher voltage of 1.39V with llc Turbo also but get the same Blue Screens
Any other fixes you could suggest?

xmaster - couple of things for you to consider whilst you wait for 8pack to reply - is the system stable at stock (i.e. 4.7ghz)? I'd also be tempted to run each stick of ram separately too (i.e with just 1 stick in and retest) as whilst you note that it was stable in an older system - this z370/8700k combination could be pushing it harder than before and exposing a fault in one of the sticks.

p.s. isn't that version of prime95 really old and it doesn't have the AVX instructions in it? 29.3 seems to be the latest x64 version and if you have your AVX offset in the bios, it should run at the lower speed in prime. Finally, you might get more traffic to this issue if you add it to the main thread (same topic) in the CPU forum

We had I think zero returns on these binned cpu so I really doubt it's a cpu issue but it could be.

Try tuning io and Sa voltages. Maybe this chip needs more.

Have you tried just gaming rather than Prime. The prime these cpu are tested with is non avx 26.6. We don't gaurentee 5g with avx.

Thanks for the suggestions Spud, I ran the 8700k at stock with ram XMP enabled and it was stable in games and Prime v26.6, realbench v2.56 https://imgur.com/a/DFIke
With the recommended OC settings I set both IO and SA voltages higher to 1.5 but still get blue screen crashes in Prime v26.6, realbench v2.56 pubg, six siege.

This is very strange. Zero returns so far. We tested that stuff before shipping on m10h Maybe board issue. Pubg Oh dear junk!!

1.5 is way too high you trying to kill it??

Just exchange the Cpu.

Just ordered 4.9G 8700k today along with a Asus X Hero, can't wait. Never overclocked manually before so this will be interesting. Hope i don't blow it up

I am very happy with my Delidded 8700k. I ordered the 4.9Ghz but I got it running 5Ghz and could still go higher should I choose. Using a Corsair H105 AIO my temps are about 26c with just Chrome open and its never gone higher than 53c in the three days I have had it so far. I been gaming and a touch of video rendering.

damn, nice. have a non de-lid and idle is 28c average and realbench hits 88c - and thats with EKWB 360 rad and silent wings which hit 2100/2200rpm

Anyone thinking of de-lid Coffeelakes- well worth it!

Holy crap will have to get a heat gun on the vrm- problem with ITX boards haha

I'm waiting for my de-lidder to arrive. Having said that, now that I've ironed out any apps that where the root of my instability - I'm at 4.9Ghz @ 1.298v (1.3 set in bios lvl 6 LLC). Temps are limiting me pushing further as I'm seeing mid 80's in Realbench and Prime 26.6 (1344) - 2 hrs each. Think I may have a candidate for 5.1+??

or you might just have a cool chip at 4.9 temps aren't the only hold up for OC but it sure looks like you have some good silicon. I had a 3770k that wouldn't do 5 at any voltage but would sit at 4.9 at a very low voltage for the chips.
