9/11; Never forget.

Its so surreal its hard to believe it actually happened.

I remeber where I was when it happened.

I was in a freinds car, whilst we was hunting for a house to stay in for my 2nd year at uni.

We put the radio on and just listend to what only sounded like 'the twin towers had fallen'

Too unreal to feel anything.

Whats happend after with regards to the two wars and guantanamo.... who knows.

Lots of wrong things happen for the right reasons.

Right?? Is that not a valid point?

Injustice happens when you go to war. Its part of the baggage.

Not condoning it, as there are innocents that have had their human rights violated, but is that not like our criminal justice system and prisons?

It was 10 years ago, not only that, but there has been events in the world where lots more people have been unjustly killed for whatever reason, which isn't pushed into your face by the media, but oh, because it happened to America it is the most important thing to ever happen, oh noes. People keep banging on and on about 9/11 and frankly, it's boring. Bored now.

i don't think it's a case of as it happened to america it's important else why aren't we celebrating independence day here, or remembering the first time the twin towers had a terrorist attack? i am fairly certain the reason is because how dramatic it was. watching the towers get hit (plus everything else that happened on that long day) has a far greater impact then watching a bomb simple go off in a bus/train.

what i think is more boring is listening to people put up these stupid borders as a reason we shouldn't care. oh didn't happen in the borders i'm told to support so i don't care.

I didn't say I didn't care did I.

I am just questioning the disproportionate importance placed on the deaths of these people in comparison to every other tragic loss people have suffered, that we should 'never forget' the ones involved here.

I will also spare a thought this weekend for the hundred thousand innocent civilians who lost their lives due to the retalliation by america after this event, lets 'never forget' them also...

This whole "never forget" just reeks of self-importance.
It is pretty sad to see so many people get caught up in the media ****storm.

RIP.
I don't really agree what has happened after 9/11 though, taking away freedoms so that you can have more freedom does not really make any sense to me.
Now they seem to use terrorism as a cover for other things

The problem here is you have not been listening to the news properly and have not fallen for the bull. Naughty boy u will be reprogrammed. You must stop these free thinking ideas and be the sheep and follow....baaaaa

A stiff upper lip and other throwaway terms makes everything better. What?

Yes it would, the only solution to a nasty ideology is to keep by ours, any change is a sign of weakness and ultimately the terrorists have won, so what if we kill a few of them, it only strengthens their ideology against ours.

The best thing we can do is give up (though it probably needs some spin to make it feel less of a loss) and go back to being the better society.

I got 7K knocked off my wedding reception for them double booking our original date and moving us to 9/11 so it was all win for me :D

On a serious note, rip, its not just them 2000 or so that died but also all the people connected to them that suffered too :(

and the thousands that are expected to die early from the dust clouds and clean up.
As far as I'm aware it's the biggest ever terrorist attack and in a time where it is all caught on camera. It is burned into almost everyone's eyes who saw it that day and it has changed the world.

RIP to all who died.

If 3000 people would have died of a virus there wouldn't be commemoration.

The main point is that two iconic buildings of the worlds biggest super power were completely taken out. They could have had 10 people in it will still of got the same attention as it does now.

It's always going to be remembered in this way, just look at what happened with Guy Fawkes!!

while its a real tragedy i pity any ppl of middle eastern descent walking around with a rucksack or bag tomorrow, to me this is part propoganda to keep the fear and mistrust alive

It's amazing how everyone remembers (in quite some detail) where they were and what they were doing that day, almost as if it was yesterday.

G Bush also remembers it well:

How can we forget about 9/11 its constantly on the news days before the anniversary constantly being stuffed down our throats even though its old news now. What about 100,000 + civilians who died in wars since then and the countless 10s of millions of civilians died in wars before 9/11 can we have a anniversary for them of the same extent too ahh thought not.
