9590 or 4770K?

They've incorrectly listed the 9370 and 9590 at their boost clocks (which they won't be using in BF4) with all the other processors listed at base clocks.

The stock clock of the 8350 is 4GHz, the stock clock of the 4670K is 3.4GHz, so it's fair.

A 5.0Ghz 8350 next to the i5/i7 at 3.5Ghz according to that benchmark in BF4,makes the AMD look woeful. Its there in black and white. Whats to argue about. I know first hand virtually all people with good performance that I play BF4 on line with 20 or so use Intel.

This statement in itself is why you cannot see the wood from the trees. If you and your 20 mates all have intel machines then how the bleeding hell are you going to know how an FX system performs?

Like I said time and time again, put them side by side for true comparison (not junky benchmark charts) or ask people like alex (and some others) that own both machines to get a proper opinion.

Right, i want to know one thing, i need to buy a new mobo + cpu + ram, i have an i5 2500k running at 4.4, 16gb of ram on a z68 mobo. I just bought a 290 and its lovely in bf4 which is the only thing im playing right now, with the odd hour here or there with WoW when i need a break. I dont raid in wow, just potter around solo for an hour then logout.

Im buying a Phantek Case with a 360 rad and cpu cooler from OCUK in the next few weeks as i have a buyer for my current PC.

Now heres the dilemma, i have a tightish budget as its crimbo, approx £650 to spend on a mobo + Cpu + ram + Psu and another drive.

Do i lob the cash at an i7? if so which? do i lob it at an i5? if so which? do i spend the cash on an AMD chip? if so which?

I want to play BF4, the card i have delivers on my current rig, but im definitely swapping the rig (keeping the card) i will be putting my gpu under water later, but the cpu i buy now will be going under water straight away.

Where shoul i spend my money CPU wise? im looking at you 8350 and you haswell chips...

dont think you understand, im selling my current PC.... so im buying a new mobo + cpu + mem + psu, as i have already set aside budget for a case + wc loop, and i have a primary SSD and an AMD290 already waiting to go into the new build.

You're posting more of the same. It's nothing that wasn't already known about the PD chips, if you run them stock and bench them. Many good CPUs have relied on the overclocks to bring them into their own. The original Core 2 Duo Allendale was 1.8ghz. It did 3ghz on the right board with 1066 ram.

As an example to this today my rig was stuck at stock speed due to a incorrect setting in bios. I went into Windows and ran Cinebench (just to see if it was stable at the stock speed) - 512 points. When I slapped on my every day overclock of 4.7ghz @ 1.42v I scored 763, and when I bench running at 5ghz I hit 800 - way WAY beyond what a 4670k can do.

The argument that PD chips are worth having is down to a few things, things you seem to be forgetting in your little tirade.

1. Price. £110 for a 8320 that can do at least 4.5ghz. Ignore stock speeds, they're unlocked out of the box.

2. Their performance in modern apps and games not old ones that all favor Intel. IIRC SuperPI was caught with its pants down deliberately favouring Intel CPUs.

3. That they're perfectly capable CPUs in gaming, any game, even with a very high end GPU system like say, a 7990. Go into my benchmark thread and tell me which of the several games I benched are not playable. The answer would be none.

So of course, around and around in the little fanboy circles we go.

8350 doing bad again chaps.

Intel compilers benefit intel CPU's. Drunkenmaster summed up nicely about this, maybe it should be stickied so we can point ignarus to get up to speed.

Soo tempted by an 8350, but then i see results from Anandtech for 4670k and that seems so good too. I dont think i7 warrants the extra price if just gaming tbh, and thats all i use my pc for, BF4 and mostly RPGs and MMO's. Although im told they love i7's, i just dont see the benefit for the extra money spent, perhaps im just stupid or something.

I so want an AMD chip and im really really tempted, but its tough to argue against the 4670k for the price and performance it offers.... such a dilemma, if i only i could see into the future and that future was games would favour Piledrivers hahaa

I've had an i5 2500k and now have the fx8350 and in all the games i play i notice no difference

I have found the FX8350 to feel much snappier and smoother tho and more fun to overclock
