9590 or 4770K?

1fps counts as 'shafting'? Gosh. Plus that CPU benchmark is clearly GPU limited, and is useless for anything other than GPU performance.

Alex_123_fra's benchmarks have the 3930K at 4.5GHz, 780 SLI with 120fps.

8320 at 5GHz with 7990 111fps, and considerably weaker graphics there.

They're at parity.

If one is at 5.0Ghz and running as hot as the sun, and the other is at 3.4Ghz, surely that cant be thought of as equivalent Martini.

If they were both at 3.4 or 5.0Ghz respectively and produced circa 5% either way thats parity.

Check out the 6300 (4.7Ghz) and 8350 at 4.0Ghz. Terrible. Destroys a 780's performance.

But in the context, their performance is the same with the i5 at 3.4GHZ and the FX83 at 5GHZ.
Not that I think that's good.

I don't think the CPU's are equal gamers, I feel/know the i5 4670K is the better games CPU over the FX83.

In terms of the end result agreed.

But its as I said also. A massive overclock which requires massive amounts of energy to achieve the same fps as a stock i5. In a "highly threaded" cutting edge game that is sponsored by AMD.

So if the AMD8350 is supposed to be superior in highly threaded games why is it beaten clock per clock and frames per watt, in Battlefield 4 by a 4 core i5 which is afterall an AMD gaming evolved title?

Time to go..

What about the games that aren't sponsored by AMD but nvidia, like Metro 2033 and BF3, as given before? Or do we ignore all the benchmarks that show there's no issue at all. The fact is that people use SLI/Crossfire for games such as these, and Bioshock, Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, etc. and in these games results are absolutely fine.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say this was an attempt to misrepresent facts...

You're seriously not implying that I'm saying a 3930K is equal to an 8320, I hope.

Agree. The benchmark clearly shows the haswell i5 winning, its fairly even though. What I find interesting is how much faster haswell seems compared to sandy.

It's safe to say most i5s in the real world are about even with the fx at typical speeds (to within a few fps), but haswell has the edge.

It'd be interesting to see how that looks when streaming though, isn't that what the op wants?

Lol at PCLAB who are just as reliable as Bittech.

I would be careful about pclab as they seem to get weirdly low results with AMD CPUs at times, which can be contradicted by other reviews(CPU throttling?). In their article where they tested the BF4 Beta, their results were using a small domination map which could only support upto 32 players and no vehicles, and not the significantly larger conquest maps with upto 64 players and vehicles:

http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=35563228&postcount=45

Both GameGPU and pcgameshardware, will test multiplayer maps at some point so I would wait for their articles to get a better view of performance in this case. If they roughly agree with what pclab then the results can be taken at face value.

Sweclockers has tested the R9 290X in BF4 MP using the same map:

http://translate.google.com/transla...7810-prestandaanalys-battlefield-4/4#pagehead

Interestingly at Ultra settings at 2560X1440 and 1920X1080,the FX8350 is within 10% of the Core i5 4670K. However,if you drop the settings down to medium,it appears the CPU loading profile changes, and appears less multi-threaded it seems.

However, the results seem to contradict the pclab review,as at Ultra settings with an R9 290X the FX8350 and Core i5 4670K are reasonably close.

Time for somone to go and get a console, and probably an iPad if they are so obsessed with power consumption.

Funny that someone who is a fake environmentalist seems to have a pair of GTX480 cards:

http://tpucdn.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_480_Fermi/images/power_idle.gif

One consumes 35W more at idle than the HD5870 and that is at the PCI-E power connectors, meaning even more at the wall.

At the PCI-E power connectors a single GTX480 is consuming more power under load than my ENTIRE SFF gaming PC.

The pclab results contradict pretty much everything else. There's no way that an 83xx CPU using all 8 cores well at 5GHz is going to do badly against an i5 at stock.

Alex's testing shows no real CPU bottleneck in BF4 with the 8320 OC'd, even with a 7990 (is that better, Martini? :p)

Indeedy.

I was running a flipping Shuttle SFF system with a 975X motherboard, overclocked high VID Q6600,an overclocked 8800GTS 512MB(than a massively overclocked HD5850),4GB GB of DDR2 and multiple HDDs. That system lasted nearly 5 years. None of the parts were that energy efficient,so people crying over components in massive full sized ATX rigs is funny.

People have passively cooled even socket 1366 Core i7 CPUs and they were not the most efficient either.

Forget that!!

Someone running GTX470 or GTX480 cards is worrying about power consumption!!

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
