Aaaand now they're taking an ad break...

John Williams is now the oldest person to have been nominated for an Oscar at 90.

Angela Bassett first MCU actor to be nominated for an Oscar

So, Oscars are to be awarded on March 13th and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

So, they're going with someone completely inoffensive then.

Very happy to see Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan get nominations.

I think I need to watch a couple of films. All Quiet on the Western Front and Everything Everywhere All at Once

Top Gun & Avatar in best picture?

Would like to see Top Gun get something for sound however as was glorious at the cinema.
Not seen Avatar 2, and unlikely to until it's on Sky or streaming. Top Gun was a fun movie, but best picture?

Avatar got 9 Oscar nominations in 2010. So 4 must be a big disappointment for them.

Not bad nominations with little suprises. Top Gun and Avatar nods where inevitable (and earned, I might add).

Seen most of the BP nominations and I honestly think Banshees deserves it. It's the cleanest, most elegantly told story and it frames itself perfectly. I'd put money on Spielberg for best Director, Blanchett for best actress and Fraser for Actor. Wouldn't be at all surprised if EEAAO sweeps a few though.

Not surprised Babylon hasn't got any nods what with everything going on around it, not too mention the fact it was a bore.

All Quiet on the Western Front and Banshees for me. I want to see Tar and The Whale.

I suspect Brendan Fraser will win Best Actor for The Whale based on the hype surrounding him in it.

I want Brendan Gleeson for Supporting actor. I always enjoy watching him!

Top 4 predictions from me. ;)

Actor = Nighy, about time he got the nod. Such a hard working bloke.
Actress = No. 3 for Cate
Director = Spielberg spurned again , any of the other four really.
Film = Wild stab in the dark as I have no clue, I'm going to say All Quiet on the Western Front as a guess.

Not seen that many on the list this year.

Only seen The Fabelmens and Everything Everywhere for actress, but Michelle Williams was the stand out ( bar the David Lynch cameo ) and suprised to see she's never won an Oscar despite nominated 4 times previously .

I hope AQOTWF and Top Maverick win everything they're nominated for. Tar will definitely win something big, director probably. Barry K should win for supporting actor. I think Ana De Armas will win for Blonde..

Michelle Yeoh has to be the most overated gash Actor I've seen in sometime.

She's not really a serious kind of actor. More like a female Jackie Chan, and you wouldn't expect Jackie to be up for a best actor Oscar. She does have a little more acting ability than him but not much. Nothing near the likes Cate Blanchett or even Michelle Williams (who has developed well compared to her earlier days).

edit: missed word
