9700XT constantly crashing

I got this from copilot:

Snip

I couldn’t stop laughing after the very first line. ;)

This ladies and gentlemen, is why we should never use AI to do our homework.

If you want to test how good AI really is, ask it a question on a subject you would be considered even mildly an expert on. Watch the absolute pile of slop it gives you as an answer.

Didn’t the OP find they had a faulty RAM stick and will report back? If this was a silver or lower rated PSU I would understand but the Seasonic Focus GX 650 is a good PSU.

One way to test the PSU is to set a negative power limit in the GPU. Setting this as low as it will go will significantly reduce power draw (and spikes) of the GPU.

I have been using a 9070XT pulse with a 7800X3D, 32GB of 6000 DDR5, 2x NVMe drives and in an older EVGA gold 650w PSU. Absolutely zero issues with this setup. It even accepts a max power overclock but is generally run undervolted with a -15% power limit to keep the GPU at about 280w and stock performance.

A decent 650w PSU will run a 9070 XT with a top end AMD CPU with no issues.
Haven't had the time to test the ram slot that came up with a fault. But I have only had one crash where my pc restarted when loading into a round on arc raiders. The pc restarted so fast so missed the message but it said "croupt" something?

You could check the event log but a hard reset is more a core system failure than a GPU fault. So yes it could be spiking the PSU but that’s not a GPU fault. Try to set the power limit as low as it will go and test again.

I’m using a 5 year old EVGA Gold 650w PSU with a 9070XT Pulse.

Whatbdo you mean by event log? (Dump file?) will try the power limit and check the small memory dump file.
But why would the PSU have power spike on a loading screen? I'm sure the game limits the FPS to 60 ( need to check).

Eventvwr.exe is a program where you can see windows logging events good and bad.

What eeii posted. Are you getting these errors outside of gaming? You could test a CPU intensive benchmark and do a memtest to check other components.

Lowering the power limit will be a good test on the GPU. If the hard resets go away then it may indeed be the PSU. How long have you had the 9070XT in the system?

I have had the GPU since July, I also moved over to windows 11 at the same time.

Using the OCCT the CPU intensive passed.
I did memory test it failed, so I tested the memory on Memtest86 it failed but I didn't finish the test as I had go out.

I then tested 3 out 4 ram sticks(ran out of time do the 4th) on its own in OCCT one failed. So I have been running on 2x8GB system has been ok until that one crash last night on arc raiders.

I think I will test the other ram stick on occt then do a full Memtest86? I did buy a new seasonic leadex 1000w PSU, as it was same price as the 850w which was out of stock. But I have not installed it yet.
