So i got the mem kit.

Looking good so far in that it posted. I cba to run a USMUS or w/e hell testmem5 config is used now-a-days. I will see how it gets on fingers crossed.

I'm looking at a 9800X3D with 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL30. I don't want to bother tinkering and will likely be getting a Fractal North XL so RGB doesn't matter.

I'm currently looking at the Corsair kit for £90 that runs at 1.4v (CMK32GX5M2B6000Z30) and the G Skill Trident Neo Z5 (F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR - this is the RGB kit but the non one is pre-order ATM and barely cheaper) at 1.35v for £120.

Is the G Skill worth the ~£30 extra? The timings on the Corsair are slightly tighter but it needs higher voltage, though from what I've gleaned they're very similar performance wise. I wouldn't really bother with any OC.

They'd be paired with something like an Asus B650E-F or Asrock B850 Riptide.

This was very helpful to me - thank you very much OP.
You are most welcome. I’m glad the thread helped.

I’m by no means an expert, I just am nerdy enough to follow Buildzoid and listen to his advice which is almost always on point.

Let us know what you end up buying.

I can’t speak knowingly of either kits pros and cons but as long as you stick to 6000CL30, you should be fine.

I wouldn’t spend the extra cash on the more expensive kit.

So i was too hasty under heavy load it does indeed hit stability issues @6400 1:1 i can improve this but too higher VSOC for more liking, under games its actually okay, but if i start running or multitasking adding to the load the BSOD starts a coming. So my RNG on the IMC is probably not so good and buildzoids advice is solid as was my fear and should have heeded.

So will run it @ buildzoid recommended 6200 timings as below for now and maybe hope for AGESA updates that might improve it down the line, but not holding my hopes up for that.

Hey all I'm trying to pick 32gb 6000mhz cl30 ram for a 9800x3d on this msi board.

I wanted to use the corsair that's on offer but it's not on the supported list. If I filter the ram for 6000mhz cl30 I only have the choice of corsair and team group. Am I missing something?

Look, it should be fine.

QVL lists are never complete and they often won’t test anything close to all the RAM kits available.

If Buildzoid says buy 6000CL30 and that’s the speed of the kit you’re looking at, it should be more than good.

I've settled on this for now. Seems to be rock solid in terms of stability, I could probably push more on the TRC but i think its pretty tight timings for now.

Edit apparantly tRAS being low = bad. DDR5 confuses the hell out of me. So I've upped it to 72. Man I miss the days of DDR4.

This has been hugely helpful. Planning to switch from 5800x with 3600mhz cl16 to a 9800x3d with 6000 cl30. Was considering 6400 cl32 as they were the same price. But ill stick to 6000! 2x32gb just seems like the most logical option as 2x24 is a very similar price to 2x32. Never see myself needing more than 64gb of ram on a gaming system. Would upgrade platform before then i assume.

Hey, so the ripsaw c28 or trident c30.

Apparently trident are more premium but what are the differences between them?
If they are both 6000 MT/s, just get the cheaper. Minimal difference according to one user on the forum and the cost is higher for the CL28.

There are multiple threads about this on the forum but zero official reviews.

Just get 6000CL30.

I know its an impossible question but how is DDR5 when trying to get a higher kit to run at lower latency and speed? eg is 6400 CL32 running at 6000 CL28 within the realms of possibility?

That’s entirely doable.

You can just manually change the speed and latency timings of most kits (DDR4 Samsung B die was almost impossible to overclock but you could just choose a lower settings profile and it’s fine)

I have a kit of DDR5 8000 for this very reason - I can just down lock it to 6000 CL30 or CL28 or whatever.

It’s more difficult to overclock RAM (say from 6000 to 6400 MT/s but still very doable in many instances)

Don’t be afraid to try it for yourself.

Ta, I have experience with DDR4 but there isn't much chat about below CL30 for DDR5. I'll certainly be experimenting.
