Ok got almost everything for my build and plan on getting a 980ti with ek full cover block BUT with Pascal possibly appearing in April should I hold back on my purchase and wait for pascal to be released or just grab a 980ti and watercooling that bad boy???

It is highly unlikely that Pascal will actually launch at GTC, but that is when we should find out some good info on Pascal and what the news cards will be like, but most importantly it should give us some indication of when they will actually be available.

As was said above, unless you can get at a very good price and it is time limited, waiting is probably a good idea.

More of this. It's your money! U want to play the triple A titles at great frames now just buy now. Sell on when Pascal comes if you wish and continue to play the triple A titles as fast as possible.

I mean so much of thiese guys just passing by great hardware and getting the best gaming experience now. A 980Ti will not be worth nothing overnight.

Wait 5 days till GTC to see if we get any news. If we don't get any news then get the 980Ti. If they announce Pascal cards are coming imminently then get an EVGA card and step up when the new cards are out. If you don't want an EVGA card then just wait for the new cards, or buy a 980Ti now and sell it on when the new cards are out.

I keep saying this

Mid range pascal might not be faster than a 980ti.

Everyone on here always says wait, then when pascal finally comes out a new pascal ti will be on the horizon and they will say "nope wait for the ti"
And then finally in 2018 you will have the latest model above the pascal the ole mighty pascal Titan x and you'll be saying why have I waited all this time when I should have just gone for the 980ti....

And when the pascal ti arrives a few more months later something newer comes... and rinse and repeat.

Some of the logic is flawed in this section.

I agree...people seem to think massive gains are to be had...but we are drip fed tech to maximise profits.

Wait for Jen to showcase the Titan P in his glamorous leather jacket that will burn images so deep into your soul you'll succumb to the £900 card.

well assuming the replacement 980 = at the very least a 980 ti for roughly £450 i would wait unless you see a great deal.

Also 980ti will drop in price nicely after launch of new cards so sli 980ti will be a nice cheap option.

Your assuming that midrange pascal will beat top tier maxwell....

One thing we do know, whatever the performance, it will better value (performance/£) than the current gen. :)

So it will affect the value of the current gen, it's just to what extent we don't know.

If NVidia want to get anywhere near the success of he 970/980 release it will have to be a significant price drop (performance/£) or a significant performance increase over the 980ti. Either will do, if it's both most people will be happy. :)
