A 170mph vectra :O

The first pic goes up in tens and stops at 140 the way I see it. You can see where it changes from double to triple figures and there's too many before that for it to go up in twenties. Are both pics from a v6 vectra?

Not sure about either tbh - Firestarters ebay ones were, so I suspect the second pic was a v6 and the first wasnt

How will it do 170 on the clocks when the clocks don't show 170?

My car does 150mph on the clocks but 142mph in real life with about 500rpm of gearing left, i'm going to stick a post-it note on the dash after the 140mph bit that says 200mph.

my bike does 174mph on clocks and is just about bang on as it bounces off the limiter (speedohealers are great little gizmos, cal it with gps and away you go)

imagine driving a shed vectra at a real 170, thats gonna be a white knuckle ride to hell and most likely a vertical drop tbh

I know of no cars which read the same on the clocks as they do on GPS, all of these actually have motor driven gauages as well so should be very close, legally most cars are set to overread.

An old vectra shed with a 12 year old cable driven speedo is going to be somewhat wrong.

If i say it did 170 then it did,why would i lie,im not some chav in a 1.2 nova fiddling with myself in a maccy d car park because ive just seen a shiny evo go past .

Lolzzzz

i was hoping it was one of the V6 Vectra challenge cars

basically one of the old touring cars looking like this

They do come up for sale now and then, bloke on the VXR forums had one as a track toy for a while. I was sorely disappointed :(

Whats the difference in bhp between that and the standard V6?

the fact that all it shares with the road car is that it looks like it a bit :D

Seriously the supertouring BTCC cars were amazing. the 2.0 litre engines were 4 cylinders, not V6, and could rev to over 8500rpm.

They had full racing diffs, suspension, slicks etc.. Proper race cars.

But this was a car from the 1990s so they do come up for sale with spares packages. Yours for 33,000 euros

thats the BTCC vectra, the V6 challenge cars were the same cars (AP racing brakes, quaife diff, racing fully adjustable suspension etc..) but with V6's running about 220bhp.

Touring cars of this era were awesome, I remember watching it with my dad when there were cars like that, the Mk1 Mondeo, Volvo 850 etc :)

you too can have a piece of the supertouring era for 33,000 euros

:D

theres even a supertouring mondeo on there i think.

*edit* yep 39,000 euros

Not quite as low maintenance as my TDCi ;)

The engine has been running 600 km, you can drive for another 400 km bfore you have to do any overhaul on the engine.

The Alfa below it made me accidentally a little bit too

if i won the lottery id love to have a race car like this to take out on weekends at track days. How much respect would you get at a trackday in a proper supertouring BTCC car ? would be awesome.

I cant actually think of a cooler way to do a track day :)

Well, maybe a bog standard vectra with no seats, "hoolio fangdango springs" and a bootfull of tyres would be a non lottery middle ground?
