A Battlefield 2142 thread

I'm again having issues with this game..on Vista. Reinstalling from scratch. Keeps freezing; either during the map loading screen or within seconds of joining the match.

Highly annoying. Has been fine up until the last week or so...something has changed, somewhere.

It`s the 1.25 patch m8 or EA when they service thier servers,im fed up with it tbh,a fresh install has worked for me so far.

I think you're right, hope it's fixed soon. Has it been posted about anywhere else?

yep had the same issue last week but did a resintall and everythings fine

Upgraded to Vista (x64) and now getting punkbuster kicks, it's fully annoying.
Tried updating punkbuster manually, made sure my firewall and router aren't blocking the pb port, run as administrator, but no joy.
I guess this is why I've set up a dual boot, but I'd prefer not to have to load an entirely different OS every time I fancy a game. :confused:

One of the in game tips I saw today was:

"despite what other players may tell you, pressing alt + F4 does not give you god like abilities"

I can't believe they actually have to tell people that.

anyone remember the old "cover your eyes with f10" in CSS when someone threw a flashbang, and then half the server logs out lol.

Fun times, but they took it out :mad:

Try changing permission on the folder where 2142 is stored so that USERS have FULL CONTROL....worked for me on 32bit when I was having a problem with pb kicks.

if its freezing on loading or as you join a game it requires a full re-install but make sure you also remove the 2142 file from your 'Documents' folder
i have vista and experienced the same problems, it took three installs to get it working, but it will work ... also like before you need to give the folder and user full admin rights

Yeah - i've had it twice now - never happened before 1.25 :mad:

Treid everything I could think of to fix it - no joy - the only cure is a full re-install... :rolleyes:

Quite fancy trying this, I was given BF2 + Spec Forces as a chrimbo pressie a year ago, barely touched the game though, just couldn't get into it the same way I did with 1942 and Vietnam.

Think 2142 is worth a shot? Should I grab a cheap copy from some auction site? Don't think I wanna fork out £27 retail for it!

if you couldnt get into bf2 like you could 1942 then chances are this will be less to your tastes.

I got it today from a purple highstreet shop for £20 including the upgrade. Bargain tbh.

i say yeah get a copy its quite fun when u get into it. but it can get fustrating when no1s workin as a team, ie the big thing in 2142 is team work

Ive been playing single player this evening. its alright. but for some reason my mouse is really un-smooth. it shakes all over the place. makes aiming impossible!

some of the ns unlocks are quite stupied though a rader grande support get the rdx shotgun and i infinty sencer thingy thats quite handy
