A battlefield2 thread

1. Create your own local server using one of the larger maps (there may be a simpler way, but a friend of mine is using this method before he gets ADSL)
2. It's fire and forget, unless I'm missing something

If you hold down the fire key you can slightly guide the anti tank missile once fired. Not massive amounts but a noticable curve which can come in handy.

And don't point it until the last minute as when u do point it the bleeper goes of in the tank giving him advance warning.
The trick is to spot the tank go prone but dont point at him. Then fire and as you walk back round a building or wall you keep pressing the button to guide it in.
The amount you walk to cover should be the amount the rocket needs to bend to be perfect. As he has only been hit once he will come look for you at the spot but you have already sprinted to the other side of the building to shoot him from behind using the same technique. Now wait for rocket to reload then switch to your other weapon as any sensible player would have bailed and be following round the back of the building to shoot you.
If you meet him to soon he will jump back in the tank so you just rocket him with the pre loaded one. if he is on foot you shoot him close range.

Yes you will get the odd disconnection back to lobby frustrating as it is you only need to reboot or relogg on.
If you have hassle with the server list then use All seeing eye and write down some I.P's using the connect button it connects almost immedietly.

the missiles are wire guided, you can fire and forget and they will still curve slightly to attack their target, i know ive been doing it to helicopters fire switch to AK and attack infidels.

Well with all the missiles if i hold the lmb i keep the goggled view up and i can actually make my missiles go wherever i want. When i dont hold them down they only move slightly before it loads the next missile and then it wont follow your view.

im gonna go try this now, ok so i now i need an excuse to go play, i have a problem, its still only the demo my copy arrived on saturday but they wanted a signiture and i was asleep so i have to go down the depot and i did, why do they close at 12:30 on a saturday its just wrong, so going early tommorow.

Hey, figured id post in here instead of making a new thread, if any of you can help me I'd appreciate it.

I'd really like to play with textures on high, but i get seriously jerky graphis when i do, im guessing thats down to 'only' having a gig of ram? Do you think it would be worth me sticking an old 512 stick in the 3rd dimm, sacrificing dual channel and having to go from cas 2.5 to 3, and would that make high detail ttextures viable?

Running a NF7, Barton 2500 @ 3200 and a 6800nu @ 16x6, 380/850.

Installing RAM is hardly epic, takes barely longer than the time it takes to restart the computer...try it and tell us!

nForce 2 mobos can be pretty picky with what works with what with regards to RAM though

can anyone give me any tips on what "Kit" to play, i am really bad at this game :(, Only thing i can do is fly planes well lol

I have tried them all and i just dont know :(

I second Phil99's comments.
Not only did i have an initial compatibility problem with other hardware for unknown reasons with the NF2 i also had a slight problem with the Ram.
Basically the manual says one thing but the other was better.
Switching the slots my ram were in made the difference and solved my initial problem.
Although there are 4 slots on my board only 3 are totally independant then it depemds how you use them to determine the best option.

I currently run Batt2 using a Gig of Geil. I intend to sling another 512 in there when i can get an identicl stick but this is just greed not really a requirement for smooth play on Batt2.

I think it just takes perseverance. If you keep changing kit over and over you won't become good at any one kit. Try sticking with one for a while. Assault is probably the easiest if you just want to kill stuff. With the others they have specific jobs they are meant to do so you have to concentrate on killing and helping you team which might be difficult at this early stage.

Make sure you join a squad (at the spawn screen) then follow other team members around. Going off on your own will only lead to problems. Even if you manage to find an empty tank you still probably won't last long with no support.

Speaking of support....I find this class quite easy and useful for getting points. The gun they use is extremely powerful, just make sure you fire in short bursts and also make sure you prone or else it is stupidly inaccurate. By supplying your team mates with ammo you will gain points. Everyone can hold one extra clip than they start with so there is a change to get a lot of point whereas with a medic you have to wait for them to get shot first.

Hope that helps a bit, I am by no means an expert but using the tatics I have written above I am starting to push my way up the rankings.

i picked up my copy this morning got 30 points on commander on one map, gained my medic and at soldier basic combat ribbons/medals whatever and i found that hte missile does sometimes track if you hold down the left mouse button you can steer it slightly. as for starting class id probabbly go for the medic nice and simple plus if you ever get in a pickle just attack someone wiht a defib.

Disaster :( - i can't even re-install now ! The dvd will do the auto-run and i can go to install and select English but then the bar goes by once on the first box that you get and it dissappears and thats it !

Nooooooooooooo

Think i'm going to have to format now as i can't see how else i can fix it - i tried running the setup file from the dvd but that does the same thing :/
any ideas !?
