A battlefield2 thread

F.E.A.R. is more of a challenger to deathmatch games, not the likes of BF2 since they have difference concepts. BF2 is vehicle based in big open environments while F.E.A.R. seems to be aiming at close quarters battle.

Anyone moving to F.E.A.R on release?

No chance. Totally different type of game as said, and it's not the type i'm interested in. Too cramped.

No crazy battles with 50 odd players all fighting in the same street over the same base!

How can FEAR even be mentioned in a BF2 thread ffs ?

They are not even the same genre. Anyway, for online multiplay shooter games, BF2 completely defeats FEAR. Easily.

Nah could just mean you take a lot of care of others and dont kill that much compared to your amount of deaths. A medic who revives his squad a lot and doesnt get time for many kills might get this

Yea, its your K:d ratio basically. I thikn if you ever reach 1:25 in a game then you get that award. either means you are walking talking cannon fodder or just very helpfull

You have to get a minimum of 5 kills to 20 deaths to qualify for a purple heart. Thought I was going to get one the other day. Playing as a Medic and I got something like 2 kills and 9 deaths but didn't get one as I didn't get the minimum requirements. Am I right i thinking getting a purple heart is a bit, erm, embarrassing to some folk

i got a purple heart (came up whilst i was playing) but it doesnt seem to have given me it! its not in the list of awards. I got something else aswell that hasnt come up

Well its certainly not an award i would like. :p
Having said that i would be very respectful to a player that got killed repeatedly trying to Med me or Ammo me or back me up so wtf am i on about.
Medics always die. They drop like flys tbh and if they get dropped repeatedly trying to revive my squad/team mates then they would get huge respect from me.

Hopefully now points/ranks are not so important to unlocks peeps will get respect for there individual work in the round rather than the points they get at the end.

We need to recognise these dudes that get a buzz from revive rather than kill.
Also Ammo dudes and cappers. These guys can win a round without actually killing many peeps at all.

Also when i am spec op and infiltrate there main base neutralising there Assetts and jets i dont score as well as if i am mixing it up capping. Even though its a major factor in winning a round.

We all have to realise some of the Round winners do not get the points they deserve so should get a Major TY in console form others. :)

Funny you should say that malc. Since the patch I have been playing more as Medic & Support as I have unlocked both guns and seen my scores drop quite considerably. I have never been a guy who gets 60/70/80+ per round but usually averaged about 35-40. Gone down less than that until I realised I wasn't getting as many kills as I was before due to me concentrating on resupply and revive etc.

On that note - any tips on using the unlocked PKM as I am struggling to hit a ruddy barn door with it :o

Go Prone and Aim low pop off a few shots at a time dragging down your sight with the mouse after every few shots.
Either that or throw 4 ammo bags down and switch to nades. As you throw the 4th nade then run over your first ammo bag.
If you have your ammo bags laid out in a line you can throw 16 nades without switching at all.
I call it my Nade Rain. :D

Have just bought BF2 this morning after reading through this thread, and playing the demo. Hope to see you guys next week sometime :) My game name will probably be Atari.

the key for support is a blend of the role, you need to be a be on the sideline of the firefight but you must use your firepower wisely and it is a big ++ to a team to have support .with resupply you must be protected by your sqad, what i find annoying sometimes you are left very vunerable due to the person you have given ammo leaves you on your own to get get killed by the oncoming attack as well always drop ammo in the hot spots and you will get a lot ppoints. The PKM in right hands is lethal but it has to be used prone and in 5 rounds bursts and you must keep moving or you will get picked off by snipers and anti-tank.

medics act like lemmins for a single point! they will often die and lose another team ticket to gain a point for themselves..

using that info against them: if you shoot someone and are in a good cover, hang around for the medic to turn up.. if your assult get the nade launcher ready, wait for the revive and then give them both the good news :D
the math of such a situation: the enemy medic gain's a revive point, the enemy team loses 2 tickets, 30 seconds of manpower (at least*) and you gain 6 points

* i say at least because there will be a variable time before they get another point or effect your tickets.
