i unlocked
spec-ops(with scope no recoil)
assault(very good with launcher) and good size Mag
medic(very accurate no recoil)

you can use them normal BF2 but be aware people can very unhappy because they do not understand thay you can different weapons ,Spec-ops is my favourite one it is deadly :)

yeah iv seen Admins kick for lame reasons such as this, think its quiet pathetic to be honest, its what happens when children are given admins right, and i suppose its got a little to do with BF2 ranked servers being so expensive and Admins dont like it when they are not having fun on there own server, so they kick people who are spoiling there fun, in this case u was killing him = Admin sad, lol

I honestly dont play on any server other than 50Klicks. If its full, I do not play - simple as that.

Ive had some amazing games on 50k, and im a very good squad leader. The other night my squad spawned on me on the way to the Hill CP on murshtuur city. We took it with easy after me taking out 4 people with the normal medic gun and my whole squad had died. Fortunately I managed to revive them all.

Ended up with a hell of a lot of points, beating the blackwhore pilot too with all his kill assists and driver ability points.
 
Finally got BF2 working last night, the only problem is when I tried to connect to a server it kicked me saying I must revert back to an unmodified version. The only "mod" I did was patch it using the 1.12 patch. Can someone help me please as I've had the game since Friday and haven't played it online yet.
 
I beleive there is 2 patches that need installing to a fresh BF2.
Its confusing because they don't follow numerical order. Great a.
Basically its 1.03 patch first to a vanilla BF2 then the 1.12. Remembering that even if you installed the 1.12 prior to getting SF you still have to patch to 1.12 again after.
Nice and simple a. NOT. FFS Who makes this carp up.
Anyways after a fresh instal during the log in BS the other day this is how i did it and it works fine. Although it does take longer to load now SF is installed. I used to be first in on every map now i am about 6th PPPPffffff.
I know this is ridiculously confusing and a total balls up and its down to Luck judgement and Star alignment on whether you get it running well but trust me if you do you will not regret the effort.
BF2 + SF is without doubt the best Online game out the at the moment.

Anyone who has a better method or a fix for my slow loading since SF please post and i'll buy you an Ice Cream. :)

Failing that MSN me and as you are local we can have a cheap house phone call and sort it out verbally. Am only in Hinckley. :cool:

It's the price you pay for being half decent at a game. I've got used to it over the years. At the end of the day if you are owning all on the server due to different skill levels I suppose it does get annoying for whoevers server it is. I've lost count of the number of servers I got banned from in DoD back in the day :( Although to be honest I prefer to play on servers where there is a challenge, although I will admit to playing on the old UK2 Beginners CS server for a laugh :D
 
Cheers for that malc might take you up on that don't have SF though, it looks like a delete and start again (4th time lol). I was only told that the 1.12 patch was needed hence why I only installed that one. What was wierd is that everytime I started the game it kept telling me that I needed to upgrade to 1.12 to play online even after I patched it.
 
The box with the patch needed text in it comes up constantly no matter what mate.
Still comes up on mine and in French aswell. WTF.
I have to admit to having struggled on with this game to get a decent gaming experience but i can only repeat that its well worth the effort.
Once sorted its unbeleivable. There are so many different sides to the game it keeps you coming back time and time again. I have over 500 hours clocked up on this game which is odviously the best indication on how good i think this game is.
No need to rush out and get the SF as there is still loads of action on the vanilla servers. Also don't be intimidated by the unlocked weapons. I have every unlock but still when i play assault i use the default weapon. All the weapons have there strengths and weaknesses its just a matter of using them in there best situation.

Cool, the other that really bugs me is that to join a server you have to go through the BF2 multiplayer screen, I normally use ASE to join servers as it works out a lot easier. Hopefully I'll get it sorted tonight and get some gaming.
 
Use the BF2 screen to join servers but remember the server list only works properly with up to 6 filters enabled go over that and you get dodgey results.
Also remember to switch the English only tab on in options so that you know what they are saying when on MEC etc.
 
I used to get random crashes all the time. Reinstalled, patched and used the no CD crack and it works perfect :D

Apologies if this has already been asked, but this thread is HUUGE -
I keep getting killed by people with an F2000, is this available in vanilla BF2? I've heard its the 2nd tier assault weapon, but the info page only shows flashbangs.
 
F2000 is given to people who have brought SF while they play BF2. Charging people to gain an advantage over those who have not paid is a low tatic by EA to increase sales of SF. You can unlock it by getting someone with SF to play with your account for 5 mins.


Anyone else seen that BF2 is due out on the xbox360 in Jan. Will it look as good as the pc version or even better ?

dont know but i expect there will be special Xbox360 only servers or theyll get a royal whooping by people with a mouse and keyboard.

Failing this they would need an auto aim where you aim 100metres to the left or right and it locks on to a player :o
 
afaik It's the "Modern Combat" port, i.e completely different game from the PC version and you would only be able to play against others on Live.

As for whether it will look better... I would say that depends on your PC, your monitor and whether you were playing the 360 on an HD-TV or not.

It appears as an extra unlock for me. I was under the impression you got it if you had already unlocked that classes extra weapon. I don't have much time to game so it will be ages before I get another unlock to be able to use it in vanilla BF2. :(

Yep, you need the tier 1 unlock before qualifying for the tier 2 (SF) - same for me.

I got the impression the lesser title was xbox based and this was the real deal for its more powerfull big brother. I guess its not going to look any better then it does on a 7800 and iam certain they'll have seperate servers :)

Ive not seen any preview shots just the release date in the catalog
