A battlefield2 thread

Yeah, I slipped away from bf2 when I got my 360, but my 360 bit the dust so Ive been back on bf2 with a vengence :) I got the SF expansion at christmas and installed it but only played about 10 times, By installing and playing SF on your account you get additional gun unlocks on your vanilla BF2. SF is ok there are lots of close quarter battles inside buildings/carrier ships etc, and it gets really hectic with tear gas and flash bangs going off all over the place your lucky if you can stay alive for more than 30 secs at a time when a battle for a flag inside a building kicks off it kinda feels like your getting spawn killed only option is to spawn well away. also all the extra action put more stress on the graphics card, I got BF2 running sweet but getting slight pauses on SF. Give it a try you might prefer it :)
 
Is that right that if you spot, say, a tank and someone takes it out that you get a kill assist or something? Someone told me that ages ago but can't say I have seen it happen

not heard that myself, but if true, you could just go around clicking on spotted all the time!
 
If I see more than one enemy in the distance or a tank comes rolling in I always use spotting, and ive never noticed a point gain for my troubles.

Ive got a question now please: If you are on the winning team do you get your points doubled when they are added to your global score?? Ive noticed at the bottom of the screen after a battle when the results are posted that next to the commander of the winning team it says 2x bonus for the win, but is this just for the commander or whole squad? thanks

The only thing you get for spotting is a Tremendous feeling of Well being and the knowledge that you are helping your team :p
No points.
Good players in Machinery will thank you though and you will save your commander from using his UAV. If most auto spot then the UAV can be used where needed.
With the amount of points i have now and all weapons unlocked its more important to me to play a significant role for my team. I am happy not to score a single point if i am contributing to our side winning.
Odviously this is easy to say now i have my unlocks etc but i am quite happy to be a mobile spawn point for dudes who need points or take a low scoring roles such as spec op assett destroyer.
I just love the game and want all to enjoy it as much as me. :cool:
 
IF you spot something with it in your sights, its actively tracked on radar for everyone to see which is incredibly usefull. If you have a tank killing everyone and you cant do a thing about yourself because your kit isnt AT or SF then the best thing you can do is to autospot or actively spot something like that.

I always watch for it when Iam in a heli, cant do much if you spot it without looking at the object because Ive no idea where it is then.

I dont think you get assist points, the commander does though I believe. Thats why he is always spamming 'blahblah spotted'





Only the commander gets his points doubled, the idea being his actions were obviously to his teams advantage hence the extra reward.
The only thing a normal player gets for a team win is the stats and there is also a 'war college' badge given to those who win twice as many maps as they lose. I presume thats why so many quit just before the end of a map.

I wish more were made of a team win, its my main objective most maps anyhow :)

Same, seems fine here.

I rekon we could easily contend with the 50k guys. Their main advantage is that they communicate with each other well and if we practiced together and got some tactics together we'd be great in squads.

They're good players and work well as a team, but they're nowhere near unbeatable ;) :cool:

Maybe I got a bit caught up in the moment. :D

Is the OcUK tag frowned upon by them or soemthing because someone commented on how I'll soon loose the OcUK tag?

Either way if we squaded up together whenever we can would be a start but it's hard to actually talk without a mic as I find I'm not following the chat window all the time so the most you'd get out of me is probably a hello. :D

Not sure about the OcUK tag, I've just started using it and no-one's said anything about it yet :)

Re: using the mic within game

Sometimes when i join a server (5oK or whatever) it works for the first 5 or so minutes, then nothing, no icon when i press the MIC button sjhown on screen, No MIC icon under the CAPS LOCK screen next to my name.

Never understand this?

Works fine in the game under AUDIO and text MIC etc.

I am using on board sound from my mobo, could that be it ?

Spec is in Sig, would appreciate someone helping me here as i am quite good at computers BUT at a loss for this problem.
 
Just been reading through the list of fixes for the upcoming patch and you will not be able to fire while jumping, Ive never been able to work out how people can be good enough to kill you with headshots whilst jumping diving around anyway. Is this gonna affect anyone on here??

Another fix is that the primary guns for a few classes are gonna be made more accurate, something that is more than welcome for the anti tank standard machine gun :) I cant hit an elephant with this gun it seems to spay everywhere but what im aiming at ,lol together with a couple more unlocks im really looking forward to this next patch.

Anyone getting euro forces? I think its out about the 8th feb'? hopefully 1.2 will be available then also :)

Are u sure its not just the icon? Its very rare to hear people using the mic, I think Ive gathered that mine works but u need to be in a squad to use it I believe.

I believe its an H&K MP5, and the SF engineer unlock is an Heckler & Kock MP7, strange one is the weakest sub-machine gun and the other is rather useful.

Mic.
The only people you can chat to are those in your squad.
If Squad leader you can talk to your troops ( up to 5 ) and your commander.
If Commander you can only speak to the Squad leaders.
Squad members can talk to each other and there Squad leader.

Also make sure you are on a Voip enabled server. Look for icon on left of server list.

If you know all this and it still don't work. I would reinstall or update your soundcard drivers. Also check for any conflicts of resource usage.
