A battlefield2 thread

Having great fun on 50 klicks with bf2 and its good to see some fellow ocuk'ers on there, do they have a special forces server aswell?? Installed special forces last night and to my amazement runs perfect :) , only niggle was I had to re-apply patch 1.12 after installation..

The 1.12 patch has to be the last thing installed - whether you install SF or not.

Therefore install SF and then re-patch 1.12.

Yeah thats what caught me out,, I had the bf2 patched and running well then installed Special forces. When I tried to join a multiplayer game the map would load up then all of a sudden I would be thrown back to the connect screen with a message saying that my version of Battlefield2 had been modified, and please reinstall the official version :confused: I was just about to completely uninstall and reinstall the complete lot, when I thought about re-applying the patch, Works great now.. Im having so much fun playing and still learning vanilla BF2 that I dont really want to play SF yet. Had a quick go last night though and the vehicles are really cool, I was racing round on a quad bike :D,

No, but if you kill someone that has that gun and pick up their kit then you can use the guns, you just cant unlock them.

50Klicks 32slot citymap server reverts to SF at weekends on request, it looks like it will be running SF this weekend as someones started a request thread on there forums.
 
I just had a good couple of rounds on a 50k server. No unlock vanilla.
Only Oc dude i saw was Velocity but i was to busy killing to say Hi then so Hi now. :)
Plenty of 50K dudes on there and the commander was most helpful. :p
 
Ive been playing a bit more of Speciual forces, and Ive noticed that on the Machinegun variant of the G36 the iron sight is off by quite a lot. Can anyone conferm this? I really want to unlock it next time I get promoted becuase I love spraying an area and watching people run :cool:

Also I will look for the 50k server and ad OcUK prefex to my name :P
 
blinking game - fixed my hanging issue after upgrade to 2gb ram - I've set page file to machine managed, de-installed an re-installed BF2, SF and the patch.
All working now (fingers crossed).
See you on the battlefield.
 
Damn maby, 2gig? So thats what I need to run mine at all high settings smoothly? I can run it at all high now but it takes ages to load and hangs for ages when you first enter the battles (by ages I mean about 10mins while it loads everything into RAM, at least I assume thats why).

Im currently running everything on high except textures, there on low and it all loads up smoothly. Im starting to think running on high is bad tho, because before I upgraded I was able to see enemys easier, now im getting all the shadows and dark areas and can hardly see an enemy untill I spot a muzzle flash (in the dark areas)
 
Athlon 64 3500+
Sapphire X800 GTO2 - Overclocked of course to 16 lines and higher clocks
756mb PC3200 400Mhz (Some Kingston stuff I have had for a year or so)
An old hard disk that I never new the details of (40GB)

Game does run smooth once everything is loaded in on all high, but it takes fracking ages.
 
:eek: Hmm. RAM is my first worry there, 'only' 756Mb. I've got a gig but am thinking of making it two. Also 'an old hard disk' may point to you running low on RAM and the system caching to your disk which may be very old and dated (5400rpm perhaps?).

50Klicks is a quality server.. I'm more of a css player tbh. but when i play BF2 i often find myself on 50Klicks.. Sure i've seen some of you lot about ;)

Were you the one on the roof opposite the mosque at one point? I shot you from another roof across the canal/river thing.

I've been playing BF since the 1942 days. Play on the =XDC= clan server a lot as well.

I am now, watched the film recently and the serise is gonna show on skyone soon! I will upgrade RAM and Hard disk soon, I need to take advantage of these SATA ports on my mobo :). and some duel channel RAM cant hurt.
