isnt the m95 the upgrade for the basic BF2 ?

Yes but its real life name is the one he's given. (M82A1 Barret .50 Cal)

Also, you dont need EF to use the P90, you only need SF (as it is a backdated SF unlock because there wasnt one for AT in SF)

Tho, you might as well save an unlock and not bother getting it...its completely useless...you might as well bend over and wait to be taken violently from behind instead of trying to shoot anyone with it.

I have special forces (played it a couple of times before reformatting) but i've managed to lose the manual so can't reinstall for now.

My question is: The special unlocks are showing up as potential unlocks in my bfhq (ie the uber enfield sniper rifle) - does that mean it will be possible to unlock them once i reach the next ranks?

Now that I've started to play BF2 more regularly, I've started to notice a hell of a lot more bugs :(

One which I fell victim to just now: I was on a roll, 15 kills - 0 deaths. I jumped from my sniping spot and attempted to deploy my parachute. I heard and saw the parachute deploy, but my fall speed remained the same. I fell to my death. 15 - 1, ruined my flawless kill streak.

Another one, which I've noticed recently. Close ranged headshots with a sniper rifle not registering. Yesterday I came across an enemy soldier crouched, shooting around a corner. I aimed, from quite a close distance, and fired. I saw dust fly from his head like you do when you get a hit, but he didn't die. He then turned around and killed me.

Lol.. i shouldn't laugh, but i saw you deploy your chute, and fall to your death i must admit i was kinda shocked to see that happen. You are a very good sniper, got any tips for me? I had being Support, it gets repetetive and boring, mowing people down with the mg36. So i decided i wanna become a good sniper, although everytime i have played that class some guy ends up knifing me in the back, or just gunning me down with a superior weapon.

Yes you will. The new sniper rifle and P90 have nothing to do with EF as everyone seems to think. They are in EF as standard weapons, but they are backdated SF unlocks as NO NEW unlocks will be avaible in EF (or any other BF2 Expansion for that matter)

it's -2 for a suicide.

edit: i just ran a test and found falling from a building does not count as a suicide, just a single death???

i always liked it that an engie could pick up enemy mines, they should get a points for it too because medics/support get far more points than a hard working engie does.. it's all part of their job and can be vital for the team.

there needs to be a counter to the claymore though.. perhaps engies with their spanner out can close in and pickup, but never move away so that they can't just run past them.. else every flags going to have claymore and the only way to deal with them (short of finding the sniper, killing him and waiting for a minute) is for someone to go in and take the hit (no skill kill). the skill would become hiding the claymore and for engies, searching them out.

or something like that would be cool..

Engineer is the counter to the claymore. Can pick em up aswell , just have to come from behind to avoid setting it off.

I have SF but I still cannot use any of the new weapons even though they are unlocked in my BFHQ

I have even reinstalled everything BF2 related from scratch. Does the server you play on have to allow these weapons to be used or is it a bug?

In short, both.

Servers can turn off global unlocks AND it is a bug. Are you sure your selecting the weapon u want by using the arrows on the spawn/squad screen in game?

I can select the regular unlock like the M95 for the sniper for example and the SA80 for the medic using the arrows but I cannot get any of the newer weapons brough in by the SF expansion pack. If I press the arrow it just goes from the Standard weapon for the army I am playing then to the Unlocked BF2 weapon and then back to the original army weapon.

Do you need to do anything or should it scroll through the three weapons if it works as it should do?

As in Army > BF2 Unlock > SF Unlock > Army

I have the same problem as Howch. It happens too often, so I resolved it by playing vanilla BF2, and I always have a full choice of weapons. And the vanilla BF2 seems to run smoother than SF as well, although that's maybe just my setup.

global unlocks is for uunranked servers only, it allows players to use their unlocked weapons on an unranked server.

Well, personally I don't see myself as that good. There's still plenty of room for improvement.

Anyway, some tips from me:

- Find a good spot overlooking an enemy base/enemy bases. Look for high rise areas, with walls/cover from enemy fire. Having said this, low sniping spots can also good depending on the environment, but often harder to defend using claymores.
- When you're at a high position, use this height to your advantage for throwing grenades. You'd be suprised how far you can throw grenades from the top of a building whilst jumping also. Especially effective when throwing them down on bases which are being captured by enemy forces.
- Use claymores at any entrances/access points to your sniping spot.
- Place claymores at corners or choke points when you've got enemies advancing towards your positon.
- If you get spotted by an enemy, kill them then move to another spot. They'll almost always come looking for you at the spot you killed them from initially.
- Go for headshots on static targets, chest/body shots on moving targets.
- When fighting opponents at close range, try and get a sniper hit on them then rush in with your pistol.
- Don't always stick to the prone position when you come up against enemies that have spotted you, you lose a lot of mobility. Especially against enemy snipers, moving around a corner in the prone position makes you an easy target since you are moving slowly. I often find moving into positon, crouching (or just crouching around a corner), firing, taking cover (repeat) a better tactic.

There's not much more to it really. Keep practicing...

Thanks, some good tips there. I've just recently unlocked the new sniper rifle but havent really put it to much use at the moment. I'm kinda crap when it comes to sniping the enemy, as they usually kill me before i kill them. But i will take the tips and have a go at it later on a map. My favorite map for sniping is wake island, as you can see really far on that.
