A battlefield2 thread

no ive never really had any problems either

some people get far too worked up over the game posting its this its that etc.. when really its just their systems. ive had all sorts of problems with apps / games over the years that only i had and every1 else would say "not me". Its just the tempremental nature of PCs

i wont defend the release of the 1.2 patch though. They definitely did diddly squat testing on it, our clan found 3/4 bugs just in our first half of hour after the patch. it was obvious it was released with zero testing and unfinished, no doubt due to the leaking of the beta patch.

But BF2 aint as bad as some people make out. Once the 1.21 hotfix comes out, everything should be hunky dorey. After all, a lot of the bugs in that bf2 thread dont aversely effect game play. Some do, dont get me wrong, but a large number are just minor inconveniences rather than something that will drive you to rage every time it happens.

you hit the nail on the head mate,,,,,, 'nough said!

The getting stuck bug is a recognized one. it happend to me when i jumped out of a plane and landed in water. Whats more it does so every time i do the same thing so its repeatable.

as for the list of the 22 new bugs created by patch 1.2 i presume you mean this :

http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57621

Some of those are highly suepct. Eg :

"7 Some people have claimed to have invisible buildings and trees, I have not had this one however"

not exactly concretete evidence of a bug is it ? not even a SS

29 new bugs, the 22 are ones which have remained from previous patches/original release.

Just because you havent witnessed it it doesnt mean that other ppl dont. People who havent changed their PC equipment, drivers or settings now seeing things they didnt see before. Regardless of whether they can prove it or not that doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

And as for the bug you quoted, i have seen this myself. It was only a tree, nonetheless it exists.

Regardless of whether their are 1, maybe 2 dubious ones in that list, that is an awful lot of bugs to be introducing in a patch which is supposed to fix other bugs/issues.

Its sloppy coding and its what happens when u add to code by patching. Everytime you fix sumthing you make the original code bigger and more complicated. More complicated code is messy and causes bugs.

I can assure you, repeatedly shooting at tanks only to have your missiles go straight through them is anything but a "minor inconvenience"

14 'E Bug' Sometimes typing a text message in game with the letter 'e' often results in the person who is in the vehicle to exit, this is most frustrating while in a plane or helicopter.

:D - classic!

Oh yeah actually I came across that one. Remember typing "****e" (poo/excrement) when I missed a target with TV missile and got ejected. I never really type anything now when in an aircraft.

I guess I'm the lucky one only ever had one issue with BF2 and that was fixed with new ATI drivers.

Likewise... I used to use the Omega drivers and BF2 was unplayable, would start to jump and stutter after a few minutes of playing then after a few more minutes it would freeze and crash. Sorted it out by installing the proper ATI drivers:)

I never had any problems with the game at the version before 1.2 (havent patched yet), but i dont see why they suddenly have to make huge changes to the game like limiting the helicopters, sure they were dominant on some maps but thats the nature of the beast, other things are dominant on other maps, its swings and roundabouts, just because a bunch of people whinge at getting killed by helicopters and dont like it is no reason to spoil it for people who like flying.

The only problem i have with the m95, is the cross hairs are rather thick. But thats nothing major, and the fact i dont like the noise of the gun when you fire it >.> again nothing major. Its a nice piece of kit. But i still prefer the L96A1 :p

same, i can get headshots with the m24 but when im on mec/pla i have to get bodyshots as the crosshairs on the 95 r too thick.

only have normal bf2 aswell so no l96 :(

Some people still own a copter, the patch just stops noobs from owning. Same with planes, a good pilot is still getting 100+ each map, but you now need to be good, where as before 1.2, any chump could get into a bomber and get 100 points without much fear of dieing.

my definition of a bug is something that can be reapeated and can be prooved. Im told that some1 has narrowed the invisible tree bug down to all 9xxx ATI cards. Sounds about right to me. But for it to be a bug, it has to be repeatable, eg on all 9800 cards or whatever.

i acknowledge the anti tank missle thing, cos that again is repeatable. go test yourself and you can repeat the results that others have got. that is my definition of a bug.

but the fact remains that some of those "bugs" are not repeatable and contain little to not credible evidence or reasonning. The worst was that "some performance PCs suffering bad fps". Before you can start calling that bug, you need more than that, some investigation, and foremost a reason that rules out inviduals having problems with their own systems. You'd need to be able to narrow it down to all ATI PC's running ATI 5.9 catalyst drivers or something. But it obviously isnt as simple as that, otherwise more would be complaining.

karkand is the most popular because you can easily amass a large amount of points quickly.

Close combat is the most popular type of play and the map operates so well compares to others.

Don't have problems with choppers but finding it difficult to be in a plane since the patch. I'm not bothered about the accuracy of AA from the ground, but dogfights are too easy now, just launch missiles in general direction and then get a kill. Before the patch it was a real challenge to shoot down another plane. Being a mouse and keyboard user I find it way too hard to do all the evasive maneuvers on a plane now against other planes.

i'm a fan of warload and ghost town on SF, not to fussed on reg BF2, i like to snipe so the big maps where i can find cover suit me...

Well said

the talented pilots still rack up the kills

they obviously havent nerfed the planes that much. The worst seems to be the blackhawk. They did overly nerf that due to sore people whinigng too much on forums.I personally love powerfull but damage succeptable weapons. Like the TOW in Desert combat. It could take tanks out with 1 shot and they whinged and whinged till that got changed. I loved the balance of it all, kills tanks in 1 shot, but the gunner of the TOW can be shot by normal infantry and the humvee itself blown up in one tank shot

tbh they should just have removed the ability to repair it in flight, and made it a little more vulnerable to ground based projectiles like tank shells. Getting a tank shell to hit a blackhawk was an achievement in itself, and should imho have brought it down. Would make the blackhawk pilots think twice before hovering at silly low heights.

Sounds perfect to me, you should never have been able to fly airplanes with a keyboard and mouse and been able to compete with those using a joystick. I remember the early DC days. The helicopters took real skill then, and you absolutely had to have a joystick to fly them

The pilots moaning must be CRAP pilots.
Check my stats i am No pilot but since the patch the planes are laying about so i have been flying. It feels about right to me although the bleeping is constant rather than occasional.
You do have to take out the targets you are s'posed to though rather than just continually spam bomb.
The Whingers are odviously the pilots that felt great spam bombing soft targets. Now they have to take on other pilots and effective AA they are shown up as CRAP pilots. TUFF i say and GOOD you MUGS.
You only like it when you are getting loads of points and easy wins i LAUGH IN YOUR FACES YOU MUGS.

Same old same old, knowone wants a challenge and you all want easy kills.
Now you run off crying like the Girls you are spitting your dummies out and slagging off the game i love.

You are Weak and are better of playing Sonic rather than a war game.
Good riddens to all 1 sided players.
Good riddens to all whingers and weak players.

More room for decent players who want a Proper battle not a one sided point fest.

Rant over for now but be warned Girlys go cry elsewhere as i am not interested and don't give a CRAP about your WEAK opinions.

You spent a lot of time on EA forums haven't you?

I like the new handling on the helis but I bet the planes are still powerfull. Thats why karkland is popular, everyone is on a equal footing pretty much. Only city map I like is sharqui though because the bases are so close together.

Any chance of someone helping me to get SF unlocks please, would make my game a bit more interesting/varied
